The Lotus Eletre front end looks terribad, let’s fix that.

First off, the good.
I think the rear 3/4 view looks surprisingly good. I like the rear light design that Lotus has adopted. But the front… big yikes.
I’m going to make a big assumption and assume that the upper headlights are actually just DRLs and not actually headlights. So, let’s just throw those in the trash.
30 seconds on my iPhone and I’ll call it a 100% improvement. -
@Bman76 Without the headlights I’m seeing Ferrari, maybe Roma, at the front. The rear 3/4 (Lotus will not like this) makes me think of new Vauxhalls/Opels and maybe the new Megane electric.
Edit: Just seen a side profile, now thinking Jag I-Pace. -
@Bman76 your rendering needs elan pop-ups
-
@Bman76 The really problem is the gawd awful wheels. That design is 10 years old and it looked stupid when it was new.
-
@HFV Yup, didn't really like them on the Accord Sport in the last decade, don't really like them now.
Their real problem is their dealer presence. How and where do you even buy one in many places?
Here are Lotus dealerships, and they just don't have the image where people will go looking for them

Not every CUV can be a
UrusTrailblazer. -

UrusTrailblazer.Okay, but hear me out, the upcoming electric Equinox looks fantastic
-
@Bman76 That does look good.... for a white bread Chevy. Not for a Lotus.
-
@Bman76 How have I never seen this thing? That is... an absurd amount of black plastic on the front though.
-
@Bman76 Honestly, it does look fantastic for what it is. Strangely I've only seen it from youtube ads, not the usual "first look" video barrage.
-
@Bman76 This abomination will never be a Lotus in my eyes. I get they need money, but Lotus entire ethos is 'simplify and add lightness' - this is not a Lotus. It's a 'Lotus'.
-
Perhaps it's the yellow, but it reminds me of the Urus...which is not a good thing. Interior is neat. Not a buyer though.
The TST vid made me want the Macan T, so maybe that.
-
@Bman76 are you sure it doesn’t took BaDong

@RallyDarkstrike So what? Lightness is a relative term. Even the Lotus Elise is heavy in comparison to a Peel or and Isetta. It's more about how the lightness is used. I think that this Lotus will handle significantly better then their competition.

Did... did you just... SUBTRACT "light"-ness from a Lotus?

Maybe so, but their ethos was always make a much lighter, simpler car than everybody else so you don't need as much power. Most small Lotuses only used 4 and 6-cylinder Toyota engines, not firebreathing V8 or V12 powerplants, because they were small, nimble and light.
Yes, Lotus can do handling, but you can't tell me the Eletre will ever feel as engaging to drive, or be as nimble as an Elise or Exige no matter what Lotus' magicians can do to it's handling setup. Also, EVs are orders of magnitude heavier than ICE cars because of the batteries. A Ford Crown Vic (which is surprisingly similar in size to a Tesla Model S) is almost 1000lbs lighter than a Model S even though the S is slightly smaller. You can make a heavy car handle, but it will still feel like a heavy car...

Spot the difference.
(Wheels not side profile) -
@Gabriella I've never seen an Ioniq5 with those wheels. I don't like em.
The stanard wheels are at least unique -
@Bman76 I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that I don't not see a little of this:
in the rear 3/4. -
@Bman76 Wow, I hadn't seen that yet. That's a shockingly good Chevy.
-
@HFV I prefer the ones you’ve shown, they just happened to be the ones attached to the car I saw.
