If 2021 follows the same pattern, you can say goodbye to the Mustang and the 4Runner!

I was just reflecting on my last few years of car purchases. By few years, I'm going back to 2012, which started my current cycle of new vehicles. An interesting pattern emerged.

Every three years is a major change. 2012, I bought the Tundra and Miata. 2015, FoST and Miata are sold, Cougar and Tacoma are bought. 2018, Taco and Cougar are sold, 4Runner is bought.

Dum dum DUM....what will 2021 bring? Probably nothing. The 4Runner is paid off in 2021, and unless the Mustang somehow proves to be unrepairable, it's not going anywhere. I do always threaten to sell the 4Runner to help fund the Mustang restoration, so there's always that. Maybe the major change for 2021 will be a paid off 4Runner, and a reliable summer DD in the Mustang.

Jeez, you're paying that off quickly. Not very American of you to not take 84 months to pay off a car...

Keep the Mustang, I can't imagine you'd find something that decent for the money again in the foreseeable future.

@dr-zoidberg I initially had the giant long term loan, but only because it was part of the dealership game. "For this price, we need you to finance at this rate". So I did, and then refinanced before the ink was dry. It wasn't a terrible loan rate-wise, but I didn't even want the 60 month loan that I left the lot with.

@fintail It'll be staying put. I've looked too long to find one at the buy in price that I got.

I have no expectation you'll sell a paid off Toyota, especially not to fund the Mustang restoration. That reliable DD is what makes the Mustang viable. And you don't want to lose the Mustang until it's fully done and can run in the neighborhood parade!

@chariotoflove I figure it's time to keep a Toyota product for the real purpose of its reliability/durability, not sell it because it has good resale. It's not perfect, but it's a good vehicle.

The Mustang, I just need to start tearing into it. I was delayed by the title woes, then delayed by potential work woes. Now that those are both in the past, I can get going.
