@Mazda616 's post about Christmas tunes made me want to tell ya about a new one I just heard. It's called

And let me tell you, its funky.

Anyway, I'm standing in the kitchen at my moms Saturday night, she's got the good old "music choice" channel on...and I hear this groovy ass beat come on.

I turn around to hear what it is but before my eyes reach the TV, I catch my little girl perched up on the sofa all by herself, sippin' on a juice box and absolutely JAMMING out to "The Funky Little Drummer Boy". She was so into the beat, bobbing her head...she got a little scared, and then embarrassed when she saw me watching. It was all adorable

I went out and I was like "oh so sorry to interrupt your jam, isn't it cool when a song makes you feel like that?"

Her: slowly "yeah"
Me: "Makes ya...like....wanna dance, right?"
Her: "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH"

We dance.

I know you Oppo parents know, but it is absolutely fascinating to watch your kids experience things. Mine is 2 but we already have such real conversations, I want to stop her and say "hey how do you know all this stuff?" but then I'd have to stop her. The thoughts are just bouncing around her brain and are more advanced than she has the words for sometimes. I can't help but smile as I wait for her to catchup to herself.

My son really likes the for King and Country version of Little Drummer Boy. I will admit that this one is quite funky Who says Christmas standards need to be staid and boring!
