This is the strangest optioned Tacoma I've seen listed.

4x4, 2.7, locking diff, SR5, power everything, color matched wheel arches and bumper (usually only seen on Limiteds), MANUAL, and... Stepside?!Sooooo close to being perfect. Yet so far.

@dr-zoidberg What don't you like, stepside, 4 cylinder, or both? Seems like a well maintained truck but $14k? I guess it's probably what the market commands.
-
@krustywantout The stepside! These are 6' beds and barely wider than the Ranger it competed against at the time. That is crucial real estate lost for me.
-
@dr-zoidberg Legitimately surprised it wasn't listed at over 15k. Still that sort of money gets you a generation newer prerunner(how offen are we actually using 4x4) in a similar spec and mileage

@dr-zoidberg
I too have often shaken my head at the idea of the step side configuration in an alleged work truck. But at least on this one, it seems they bulge the rear fender out instead of making the entire bed narrower than the cabin. -
@chariotoflove Sadly not so: it's approximately 8" narrower.
-
Toyota aggravated me back in '88 looking for a Camry wagon - you could have a manual on a base wagon but not on the better-optioned SE (or whatever it was called). No real reason for this, including doing a second crash test - wagons were identical but for some frippery (that I wanted). Got the base one.
-
I've never seen a stepside TRD and noticed it. That's a weird look to have the sticker on a curved panel. The atepwides are already rate and kinda pointless but the body colored wheel arches and a fully optioned SR5 instead of a limited? And a stick? That's one seriously weird truck.
-
I like the weird combos
That third pic makes it look like a Camry dent. Yeah it's a Toyota but still
-
That is an odd configuration. Must have been custom ordered. No dealer would stock that combo.
-
@dr-zoidberg Makes sense. I personally would never buy a truck without a full sized bed.
-
I didn't even know they made stepside Tacomas, I have never seen one before.
-
@sony1492 You’re already paying stupid prices for older trucks, might as well get 4wd.
-
@dr-zoidberg That's only a couple thousand less than MSRP. Good deal!
-
@dr-zoidberg 2wd and locking different sounds like a fun combo. Just put on fiberglass bedsides when you throw the cage in, because this thing is a prerunner waiting to be finished.
-
I am looking for a truck. I like this A LOT. For no rational reason, just because it is a rare bird. No way in hell I am going to Portland right now. Too far, it's winter, and there's that whole virus thing.

Well, it looks like that means you'll have to get a Prius instead...
