I'm both the best and worst roommate...
Technically not my fault, but I've been listening to my roommate and his girlfriend (I guess they're both my roomies, we all live together) from my bedroom. The walls are really thin, I've heard them having sex a lot, it's gross and weird, but I digress.
Tonight they're having a particularly heavy chat about death, mental illness, and relationships. I don't know all the deets, but I know they've been going at it for an hour and a half, and talking about it is excruciatingly painful (bad memories and "what if" questions).
I also overheard they wanted wings for dinner, so I just placed an order. Hopefully, it'll get their spirits up a little, though it's okay to be sad.
So yeah, I eavesdropped, but I also bought chicken. The law of equal exchange, right?
Have a good night, and know that it's good to talk about feelings rather than keep them inside and that sometimes there is no right answer on how to cope with said feelings.

My first apartment with my now-wife also had a shared wall between the two bedrooms -- the second bedroom was occupied by another couple. Everyone knew everyone could hear everything, and no one spoke of it.
Luckily all each person had their own twin bed and waited until marriage years later!

@Taylor-Martin BBQ Wings seems like a good way to cope to me...

Many years ago, while I was living the RV life, I returned home early from my job only to hear my neighbors sexual crescendo near peak. I swear the blinds in my RV shook upon orgasm. I never came home early from my job again....

@taylor-martin invest in those noise canceling earbuds, worth every penny

I had an apartment in college, two bedrooms, four people. One of the people in the other rooms was intimately involved with another man. The thin walls between the bedrooms wasn't much of an issue, but the thin wall between the shower and my room was.
I stayed in the dorms in University. I’ve heard things. Things that can never be unheard. We’re all just animals in the end. Some loose societal threads and language is about the only thing holding humanity together.
Noise cancelling headphones were my solution.
Sort of reminds me of a second date I had with a lass. We couldn't go back to mine, people were there, couldn't go back to hers, her sister and flatmate was there, so I paid for a hotel room.
Ye', we did the nasty a couple of times (a pillow behind the headboard) and settled down to chat and sleep.
But someone took the room behind ours and the headboards were up against the same wall.
Well they started going at it, me and Ellie just lay listening for a while and then we thought, we can do better than that and we went at it with gusto (after taking the pillow from behind the headboard).
We went back to work the next day in the same clothes as the previous day as the date started out as drinks after work, to drinks a meal and more drinks, then a hotel room. Lol.
@mm54 I'm lucky enough where my shower is buried deep in the layout. It's just about the most remote place you can go and I love it to bits. But their shower is right next to the living room (doubles as the guest bathroom), so whenever I'm chilling out or watching TV and they're getting down and dirty... well... you know the rest.
@sony1492 I'd get a big pair of Bose headphones, maybe if I ask real nice Santa will bring me that for Christmas, though it's not entirely in my budget.
@svend You: have sex.
People in the other room: also have sex.
Sounds like a wild night haha
It was a pretty good night.
Unfortunately Ellie turned out to be a bit of a bitch with rather loose knicker elastic (I can only assume that's why she couldn't keep them up around her waist).
Her sister though was perfect, red head student nurse and so down to earth and a pleasure to be around.
Ellie turned out to be into witchcraft and was part of a wiccan or something and they'd meet and stand naked and chant. It wasn't a deal breaker for me at the time as I thought being with someone even if they were a little, different, was better than not being with someone.
I soon learned I rather be with someone I wanted to be with and who wanted to be with me was better and it's one thing to have a roll around in the sack, but it's another thing to be able to sit and watch inane TV quietly, with out feeling awkward that nothing is being said but also be able to sit and talk about things and enjoy each others company was far more important.
Some lasses from work, they are a bit older and married but we have a laugh, talk, enjoy the wines I choose (Lol) and food and each others company. Some of them call the group, 'Sven's girls'. Lol.
@svend Sounds like a wild, but good learning experience haha. I'm cool with people being different, but witchcraft is a biiiit of a turn off.
Also, you're damn right. Enjoying someone's company even in the lulls of life is better than forcing yourself into fake good times with someone who isn't as fun to be around. It's why me and my best friends from home can go a week or so without chatting, but whenever we're all in town we get together whenever we can.
Ellie had a dagger next to the bed too (and a pair of handcuffs (not used on me or by me), but hey, why not, but also, only the one pair, odd)
The house was broken into once while they were away and she got very flinchy when ever she heard a noise at night.
@svend I wouldn't be able to sleep easy with a dagger one stab away from me, especially if I shared a room with someone who used it for odd stuff.
Quite a story to tell though haha

This is all I thought of reading this post. Watch until the end.
She only had a single bed, so I'd wait for her to sleep, then slide out of bed too sleep on the floor, but then she'd wake up and tell me to get back into bed (this'd happen several times a night. Lol).
Ye', I've had some interesting times, some didn't seem so at the time, while my life has been nowhere near as interesting as others.
Some loose societal threads and language is about the only thing holding humanity together.
That and our opposable thumbs and big brains used to drive cars and stuff.
I dunno. Apes can do a lot of things with their hands, and are fairly trainable.... and there's other thumbed things out there:
Wikipedia - Thumbs
And if cats had thumbs we'd all be toast.

Long story short we went to visit a friend of hers, who still lived at home up in the mountains in New Hampshire. When we arrived we learned that friend's mother had invited some family to visit and the only place for us to sleep was on an air mattress on the living room floor, with friend's drunk uncle sleeping on the couch.
My girl started feeling frisky so we snuck out to my WRX and started getting busy in the back seat. Midway through, she starts panicing and puts her hand on my mouth and starts going "SHHHH stop, stop" and I'm like "What?" and she goes "Shh. Turn around very slowly and look out the windshield" so I do and lo and behold but what do I see? A bear!!! It appears to have been rooting around in friend's garbage, but decided to stop and watch the show!
A bear and cubs for reference. Not the same one, this one was in Alaska. But I can only assume it had heard of my exploits from its kin. Which might explain why it sought me out when I was salmon fishing.
@snuze Every story is better with a drunk uncle, but the bear was a twist I didn't see coming. It's funny. They look like such soft and cute creatures but then you remember they're super tall and highly protective. Then they're not so cute...
Cute bears, for your story.

@taylor-martin Trust me, I didn't see it coming either. It was pretty crazy!

That's a harem.

yah, I eventually learned being with someone just for the sake of being with someone isn't worth it for me.
