Read all about it over on Drivetribe's hobby section

@mark-tucker Nice write up! I actually still have my early 80s Grasshopper hanging up in the garage.

@vondon302 had one as well. Found it last summer at my folks. It was rough. Lots of good play.

It's hard to believe that I bought mine all of mine 7-10 years ago and haven't run any of them since about 2015, when the tracks up here that I ran them on all closed (and I'm not up for a trip to Tacoma, plus I don't really have the disposable income to maintain a racing hobby anymore). If there was a track nearby, I'd definitely at least go there for practice days just to run around the track dodging n00bs and seeing what my lap times are...

@eric There was a track here in Portland that I kept meaning to drop by on a practice day, just to see their reaction to the 30 year old cars. But it seems to be closed now, another victim of covid, I imagine.

My cousin had a Grasshopper, so I bought and RC10CE so we could race. We learned on the first day that the Grasshopper wasn’t competitive. In a bid to improve his odds, he bought a modified motor and slapped it in. When it could get traction and he could keep it in a traitor line, it was ridiculously fast. But all it took was a tiny bump to get it bouncing all over the place again. It was so much fun to bash them around.

Never discount the possibility that you might live through it.
