Thought this was super interesting and very good analysis, and serious but with some good humor too. The one and only Dr. Wenowdis makes an appearance as well.

@spacekraken This and the fact that even if the US and first world nations are at high levels of vaccinations or immunity, poorer countries still will be behind. Since we are in a global economy, cases will still pop up in first world nations due to traveland commerce. All of this is further complicated by antivaxers and other disinformation groups around the world. Most immunologists don't think we'll be at world herd immunity until 2024. As much as I try to be reasonable and use logic, I'm slowly believing more and more that this is an alien invasion and some of these world leaders who think this is "just the flu" are really aliens in disguise. But I rip the tinhat off my head and realize that they are just really terrible people. Buckle up and stay vigilant, we're in for a bumpy ride out of this.

@krustywantout Also, the vaccines were tested for less than a year, so we have no idea how long immunity from them lasts, or if the virus will mutate into different strains which are unaffected by the vaccine. We know it’s already formed several strains (including a more infectious one burning through the UK right now), so the idea that the first vaccines will end all this is extremely optimistic. As time goes on and we come up with more effective treatments, heard immunity won’t be as necessary as it is now. There are lots of diseases out there with no heard immunity that we’ve learned to live with.

I like the alien theory haha! But I think the simplest explanation (they are just terrible/plain dumb) applies, for better or worse. Definitely in for a long ride.
