Popped on Hemmings just to procrastinate for a bit and found these lovely little guys:

A Model T and a Willys Americar, advertised for children, a toy with a Briggs and Stratton underneath, and pretty cheap I suppose (though for $2,200 one could get an actual cheap Craigslist car)... wasn't expecting to see these today, but here they are.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a go kart wheee you sit on the roof. It’s seems like they set a body on a bar stool racer.

That Model T reminds me of the cars you could drive at Cedar point as a kid. Can't remember the name of the ride, but you actually drove the car, limited to track/trail by a rail down the center so you couldn't leave the track. One of my favorite rides as a kid, because toy got to drive a real car yourself.

@trivet Hershey Park had those in 1984, they sat four people IIRC. They also had a similar setup with two-seater "sports" cars, which I got to "drive" by steering onto the rail most of the way.

@aremmes @trivet Oh, the joys of the past, when they gave children real cars. I think they still have stuff like that at the Disney International Speedway, but the cars are all on rails and slow as a snail. For my money, I'd just go to the Autobahn or one of those indoor speedways.

@trivet Kings Island had them when I was a kid, and I think they have brought them back in the last few years.

@trivet Here's a friend (later enemy) of mine on one of those, I think at King's Dominion in Virginia:

We were later banned from this ride for jumping on and off of the cars while they were moving (some gangster related play going on)
