@Rusty-Vandura @Poor_sh @ttyymmnn and everyone else (there's like 200 names on the list, I can't remember or be bothered to type them all!)
I just discovered a useful software tool, Argus Monitor, which lets you monitor your PC component temperatures... and more importantly, it lets you adjust the fan control settings for each/every fan! If you were worried (as I was) when your GPU passed 80C on the max-folding setting, or your hard drive made worrying squee squee noises, then Argus Monitor might be the solution you need. Here's an example of the level of control offered:

As you can see, I have this fan set to use the max temp of either GPU or CPU over 15-sec average to automatically ramp fan speed which is something the bios control doesn't seem to manage well. On my other desktop, it even lets me control my RTX1080 GPU fan in addition to my CPU and Aux (case) fans, which is particularly useful when folding maxes the GPU temp.
Plus it has a bunch of monitoring charts, alerts, rule-sets, etc... if you want to go crazy. I suggest anyone with a high powered folding rig check it out. It's free for 30 days, comes with good reviews and wasn't flagged by my virus software, but your mileage may vary.

As an aside, any idea why @Poor_sh and I have so many Work units but not nearly as many total points? I'm not concerned, just curious if I'm doing something different in FAH setup.

The more powerful your rig, the more points each work unit you're assigned will be worth, but the longer each one takes so your WU count will be low. A lower spec PC will quickly chew through a lot of low-value WUs.

@jayvincent Thanks. We've kind of fallen off the F@H train of late, though my son continues to let his PC run with it pretty much 24/7. We don't seem to have any issues with fans and temps. And TBH, I'm not that much of a techie.

I'd get that if this cool new PC (thanks, guys!) didn't come with a monitoring utility. https://www.argusmonitor.com/en/ for a link.

As for folding@home, I see that though we are trending down in output from 21M PPD to 15M, we are still going up the rankings. We're 219th, up 5 this week. (And we done whooped team WhoopAss!) I thought more folders would come back as the weather got cooler. Maybe the change from kinja to hyphen has misplaced a few.

@barnie I had a machine folding 24/7 for a couple months but had to stop after a GOU fan died.

I've been down lately too, the nonsense of moving has slowed my folding down almost to zero, from 2 million PPD.

Makes sense, I've been folding off and on with one high end GPU and two low power GPU and CPU combos, so I may have picked up a lot of low value but high WU counts from the low end rigs.
