Motogymkhana 2 wheels slow!

For us old pokes looking for low speed fun on 2 wheels.
I've been plotting my attempt at motogymkhana for a while now. But it seems even in Houston, there is ZERO awareness of this as a sport, let alone shops who can help set up a bike.
It looks super fun, and Japan's got lots of beginner schools. Informative videos in english youtube are hard to find. But from what I can tell this is what you need:
- taller/wider handlebars
- shorter gearing via sprocket changes
- crash bars/engine guards
- routine rear brake maintenance
This page seems like a good source of videos. It's fun to see bikes ranging from the Grom to full liter bikes like GSX-R1000, etc...
Notables: NSR250R 2-stroke, Street Triple, Benly delivery scooter....
For my first bike, I'm thinking of looking for a beater SV650, newish MT-03, Z400, CB300F/500F.... anything but a Grom. But maybe an old grom. They seem to do ok on these courses.

People who don't ride have no clue how impressive this is. I don't like locking the bar mostly upright let alone leaning it over like that.

@kleebrz I betcha something set up for stunting would work well for this. Assuming you can either find an event, or a big enough parking lot to set up your own cones in.

big parking lots are abundant in houston!

@kleebrz I always love watching gymkhana. I'm tempted to find a dirt cheap KTM 390 to turn into a gymkhana machine

So this is Auto Cross for motorcycles?
It looks like a great way to really learn your and the bikes limits
Looks to be fun as hell
Seems to be a family oriented/social event - just like AutoX
I've never seen this before - now I need to get a bike just to try this!

I have a buddy with an 03 SV650S he's looking to sell. I designed him a custom upper triple for riser bars and it's been dropped a couple times (one before him, one him). If you want to travel to NC I know he would like to have the garage space back
