Got a lot more progress done today on the swap and corrected some of my previous errors.

I started the day by installing new parking brake cables, I’m pretty happy with the set it appears to be a fairly decent quality kit for the price. Installation was fairly straightforward despite the new parts not coming with directions and with having no existing parts to reference.

Also got new brake lines installed front and rear. The pre-bent parts from Inline Tube Inc are pretty nice on initial observation. Unlike the original parts, the entire span of lines are abrasion protected by metal coiled wires. I’m very glad I bought prebent lines instead of bending my own. Amusingly it was cheaper to ship the lines than drive to the other side Detroit and pick the parts up myself.

I also cut off the old exhaust because it just won’t work with the new swap. I hoped to reuse some of the parts but based on the quality of work the dirt cheap exhaust shop did when they put the last setup together I think these old parts all belong in the trash. That 2.5” pipe is crunched down to about .75” at the narrowest point

Lastly I fixed a mistake 15 year old Bandit made the week he bought the car. For the last 9 years my rear sway bar has been mounted upside down, I didn’t know I had it wrong until a couple years back when a tire shop brought it up but I’ve been too lazy to fix. We’re all good to go now though. Photo above is of the bar mounted incorrectly, see how it’s rubbing on the diff cover?

Tomorrow my rear caliper brackets should arrive which will allow me to finish the back of the car. If those parts don’t arrive I’ll finish fabricating a fuse box mount and modifying my stock throttle pedal to work with my new Lokar cable. Unfortunately I’m still waiting on a new proportioning valve to arrive so I can bleed and mount the new master cylinder I bought today.

+50HP for getting that crush bend out of there

A little jealous of your shiny new parking brake cable/hardwares. Mine works fine but is nothing to look at.

Looking good! I like those brake lines. I’m going to have to replace mine sometime soon and when I do I’m going pre-bent all the way. I did the same for the fuel lines.

The ideal would the the Hooker Blackheart kit that’s designed to be used on my car with LS swaps but that costs $1000. I think for the time being I’ll make something myself that dumps ahead of the axles and when I can afford it I’ll have a shop make the parts that go over the axles and dump at the rear quarters. I already have downtubes so I just need to make something pretty straight with mufflers... How hard can it be?

@bandit it can be a pita having everything line up but slip fit connections help things. Butt welds for the whole thing is a chore

@bandit i got the pypes 2.5 inch exhaust kit, it's nice with buying some slip fit clamps oppo recommended, although I would recommend paying the extra with the giant 1 piece muffler near the gas tank. The under the car mufflers ride too low for my liking. Not sure if it is compatible with the LS but there is a lot of potential for adjustment with that kit.
