New Grand Tour episode - I missed those old farts
-
The new episode is finally out. I guess it came out a little while ago, but I just found the time to watch it.
Other than the pirate and buried treasure aspect, it was very much like TGT S2E11, Feed the world. Shitty roads in an impoverished African country, they just used different cars. Still, I rather enjoyed it.
We've all seen the cars in the previews. One was amazing, one did unexpectedly well, one did much worse than I imagined. I'll let you watch it to figure it out.
The old trio just is just so much more likable than the new trio. I've been watching the new Top Gear as well, and it is just OK.

Shilling was wrong. I really enjoyed watching it last night too.
-
Looking forward to it today, been waiting for this and I'll take any Trio content I can get!

"Shilling was wrong" is basically true for everything about Shilling. What a twat.

I downloaded the "Ultimate TG " torrent, cleaned it up to work for me, and I server with with Plex to my 75" TV in the living room. I already watched 1-23 two times. I love those three guys.

@musashi66 watched it last night, it was good fun.
-
@musashi66 Is that the version that has all the correct music and uncut scenes?

Yup!
-
@musashi66 I was more amused than I probably should be by the guy in the Yu Darvish Rangers t-shirt.
-
Finally watched it last night. Really was surprised with the outcome. Felt like the Nile or Zimbabwe special, was great and I'm glad we got to see it!
-
@musashi66 Just got to itβ it felt like a pair of comfy old shoes. Like a proper old trip with those old cocks.
-
Not seeing those three is the main reason I want to get Amazon Prime. I don't really care about any of the other shows -and don't have time either- but man it would be great to see them again. Need to see if I can get that on our smartTV after we move...
-
@rctothefuture The nile and Bolivia specials are my 2 favorite episodes of TG. I watched through the series at least 3 times when it was on Netflix and may need to go find it again.
-
I enjoyed watching it, and even laughed at a few parts, but the intro is so bizarre. They just dive into the "adventure" without really establishing a world or premise. I mean, I guess they've earned the right not to go through the whole spiel every time, but it would have been nice.
-
@phenotyp Interesting you say that, I felt the opposite. To me it seems like they just jumped in cars and went, there was no explanation at all about what they were doing. Back in the day, they'd explain it, show up, make fun of each others cars while explaining what would be in store, the commence the trip.
This one felt odd in the first act.
-
@wasgtithengtothennovanowbacktogti I wonder if there was some cut content from the beginning. I know they covered the premise a little bit, but it feels pretty choppy in the first act for sure.
-
@wasgtithengtothennovanowbacktogti Huh. Yeah, of course they joked about jumping the shark in 2013... but it seemed like a proper adventure, with good car stuff, though they handwaved all the work since they just pay people to do it, with all that Amazon money.
-
@phenotyp Once the film hit like the 20 minute mark, I was invested and enjoyed it. It was just the first bit that felt off. Everything else was classic Top Gearerrrrrr, I mean, Grand Tour.
-
@musashi66 it was good. I was incredibly surprised which car did the best and even more surprised which one did the worst. I started watching a few track wheel videos on YouTube and they fall off quite often.
