Early Christmas present

So I've been talking to my wife for a while about getting a recliner in our living room. To this point her answer has been a resounding "no". But as I get older the (admittedly nice) sofa's she bought for our living room aren't super comfortable for me - they are a bit too low for someone 6'2" with long legs.
She finally relented and went shopping with me to the only place I thought reasonable - the La Z Boy store. I knew they had some more contemporary looking chairs, so I was hopeful.
Long story short - this is now in my living room. Leather with full power. The grey leather is in line with the colors on the sofas, and it doesn't have the look of the super over stuffed stereotypical La Z Boy recliners. I think we both won.
(Yes, I'm sporting a shirt with my car on it, art courtesy of @Arch-Duke-Maxyenko)
I did opt in for the full 3 year warranty and 5 year leather protection plan. I have no intention on making this a "project chair", it will be my daily driver.
I foresee many weekend afternoon naps on this in my future...

@houstonrunner
You can camp in these if need be. Better than a futon. -
@houstonrunner For the first 3 months of my new recliner, I couldn't stay awake for more than an hour. I'm a little better now but not much. When the feet go up the eyes go down.

Chairy nice.

Lol I feel like I just went through the Mirror Universe version of this. We have a kinda lowboy sofa in our family room and had this crappy assemble-yourself cloth recliner we had bought online. My wife spent a lot of time in the recliner and she was reeeeeaaaalllllly wanting to upgrade. It doesn't have the right kind of back support and our cats had clawed the crap out of it.
Velvet, velour and microfiber are the most cat resistant upholstery materials, and getting a good recliner really felt like more of something where you have to put ass to seat. We went to Bob's Discount Furniture, and both noticed the power recliner we ended up buying.
But my wife didn't want to even try it at first because of the wood armrests which somewhat resembled our shitty recliner we were replacing. Except these armrests are padded, and lower down vs the shitty one. I encouraged her to at least sit in it...and now one is in our family room. It's memory foam on the inside and the power recline is controlled by buttons on the side of the chair, which I prefer to the annoying wired remotes on more expensive power recliners. The switch panel even has a USB port for charging devices.
She loves this damn chair.

My in-laws bought me a rocking recliner when the kids were little so I'd have a place to rock them to sleep. It was the most uncomfortable chair I've ever owned. I would have gotten rid of it but my son really wants it. So, it sits in storage and I don't have a recliner any more.
-
Having your own designated chair is one of the best things ever. I currently have two, one in the living room (technically my roommates, but I sit in it and will be buying it off him later on) and one in my room (a free recliner I got from my upstairs neighbors which I kind of like more. Am sitting in it now).
-
@texturedsoyprotein Yeah, you definitely need to put the intended butt in the seat to know.
-
my couch has recliner sections on each end. I've been known to nap pretty frequently on it. Typical dad move.
-
@derpwagon My middle daughter lobbied HARD for a love seat version of this, but they only had the ones in stock with the middle cup holder section, and even I thought that was a bit much in the living room.

We just replaced 2 recliners with a much nicer dual reclining love-seat with the cupholder/storage in the middle in brown leather. Absolutely love it. My first time I "test drove it" I fell asleep - so it passed with flying colors.

Been wanting a recliner, but no room in the current family room. Next place we get, I'm getting this bad boy from Cabela's:

Maybe it won't go in the family room. But my god, I fall asleep every time I lay in it at the store.
-
@trivet NICE! I'm not one of those people that can "sleep anywhere", but I foresee naps in this chair. We have some nice side tables my brother in law made for drink holding, so I couldn't see taking up the space for another drink location.

@houstonrunner @ttyymmnn @Chariotoflove (Took me a minute to scare this one up...)

When beer commercials were funny.
-
@rusty-vandura Well, that takes me back.

My awesome neighbors gave me their old recliner this spring when I had my surgery. I've been modding it with pillows to get the right lumbar support. I mean a daily with a warranty would be nice, but it was the right price so I can afford to do some upgrades to it.
-
@rusty-vandura Wow. I want to say I remember that one, but either way what an amazing commercial. I'll be thinking of that tonight when I go full recline....
-
I've been in the "we should get a recliner" discussion for years now. I may need to float this one by the boss
what La Z Boy model is it, if you don't mind me being nosey?
-
@houstonrunner I think I only ever saw that one once, but it stuck. I thought it was really clever. Enjoy your new chair! Do you have kids so equals Dad Chair?
-
@chariotoflove Of course, that might be one of the worst beers any brewery ever sold, but let's not be pedantic about it.
-
@texturedsoyprotein Now this is interesting. Seems reasonably priced too. How has yours held up?
-
-
@foghat1981 We've only had it a couple weeks, so hard to say how it'll hold up over time. We paid 50 bucks for a 5-year protection plan which includes "accidental" stains & damage. After another $60 for delivery and tax the total was $533.
