Hero!

Spotted in traffic Sunday evening.

Very nice!
-
For the untutored?
-
Looks pretty darn clean from the potato pic, too.

@jminer Thanks. Next question: why is that interesting?

I'm not the biggest fan, but they're a performance car from the 80s that was a turbo v6 so pretty interesting for the time.
-
@jminer @Just-Jeepin Not just "a" performance car... They were low-key one of the baddest street cars of the era... if you knew how to work on them. Allegedly GM corporate hamstrung Buick hard on these so they wouldn't poo all over the Corvette.
Basically you could turn this into a 400 HP monster right in your driveway with some light mods, at a time when the best V8 Corvette was making about 230 HP.
-
I should add that a stock GNX, the ultimate evolution of this car, was faster to 60 and in the 1/4 than either a Porsche 930 or a Ferrari F40. I think either would demolish a GNX on a road course, but still.

The low light and zoom certainly doesn't help.
-
Also one of the best looking cars. IMO.

I never really liked them, but not a fan of 80s gm products looks altogether.
-
@jminer In the 80's, I thought the GM cars were just boring, the epitome of a lack of design. Now they look good to me; clean, simple, classic. Audi-ish. Funny how that works.
-
@vincentmalamute I'll agree with you there. When I was a kid in the 90s the hard angular lines of cars of the 80s and 90s just didn't do it for me. Looking back I can definitely appreciate some of them though.
I am a sucker for 80s US trucks though, I've owned 5 of them...

I kindof understand the cult for these things, but they're just so damned ugly. I can't get past the ugly.
-
-
@stuckmtb As a Dodge Rampage and AMC Eagle owner, Iām into what the Grand National brings to the design table on the exterior. I think the GM interior is crap though.
-
@trivet I get all the subtle things that make it unique and better, but all I see is lipstick on a G-bodied pig. I just can't get past it. To each their own or something like that

-
@trivet I see no difference between these things... on second thought, one of them appears to be beige.
