The 4C comes with an electric compressor (so did my former Cayman), but this is honestly faster and less hassle. The gauge is easy enough to eyeball within 1 psi.

It's all fun and games until you get a flat truck tire!

I used to do this when I had a leaky Nokian WR, every month bust out the old bicycle pump to put in 10psi. Found out I had screw through the meat of the tread block much later, the leak was surprisingly slow.

I keep one of these under pressure and with a digital gauge on it all the time. makes topping up tires a walk in the park

@chan I've done that before too, it works!

And you may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?"

Good call. I just bought one of these for my bike and car tire needs. I used a Zefal hand pump Saturday on my bike, but that gets old real fast. I like something that can do both.

@chan I keep a bike pump in the trunk of my MINI under the false floor. Slow leak front left tire means I get the pump out every other week or so and put in 6-8psi in just a minute or so. So easy.

@chariotoflove Yep my friend in Hong Kong got one of these compressors because of the small form factor. Hand-crank pumps sound awful; nice thing about a full size floor pump is that it's quite fast.

                        Is yours reasonably quick?

I'll have to let you know. It arrives tomorrow. You can get these at Amazon in different flavors from different makers for around $35-45. The last one I had was pretty fast and programmable. It worked great, and the compressor still works well. However, the nozzle failed, and I couldn't get the company to respond to my emails for warranty replacement. So that's a caveat even with Amazon sellers. My solution in getting this new one was to select one with a standard hose fitting that will be easily and cheaply replaced if the problem happens again.

@chan I keep a full size bike pump with me in the Crosstrek. Growing up my dad kept a full size bike pump and a tire iron cross in any car we took longer distances.

@chan sadly that doesn't work for ute and van tyres due to volume reasons...on the upside though, virtually every cordless tool marketer supplies a battery inflator skin like Makita's DMP180Z.

Ours is not to reason why...merely to point and giggle.
