I hate the PNW sometimes
-
I really just want to see the sun again. Maybe in June....
More A+ content from COFL as he sits in his house.

@carsoffortlangley maybe ask for a sad lamp from your secret senna
-
Coming from the east coast I don't mind the winter here, you don't have to shovel rain. Normally we take a vacation in Q1, but not so much this year..
-
We're 15 days into the month. It has rained here for half of them. I'm so sick of rain.
-
@beefchips said in I hate the PNW sometimes:

ha. I got this one to wake me up.
Then this one next to the computer monitor as I waste time on Oppo
Finally, I simply moved to Colorado.

@carsoffortlangley
This would be an issue for me. Even when I lived in Michigan, and the rainy days would camp out for days, I had a hard time. We'll cheer you up.
-
View from my desk this morning - I'll take it over rain! Supposed to warm up the next several days, resulting in a slushy mess, but I know there will be snow again soon:
-
@VincentMalamute those alarm clocks are awesome, I have one too! At first I thought $100 for an alarm clock was excessive... but my mornings have been way better without the shrill beep-beep-beep
-
@carsoffortlangley I'll take all the rain and pass on the snow/dry brown winters of other places I've lived at. It does make smoking meat fun.
-
@carsoffortlangley Aaaaaaand that's why we left.
Well, that, among other reasons. It's beautiful country, but holy hell, the dampness just sucks sometimes.
-
@nth256 doesn't rain in the summer, and generally doesn't get super hot either.
-
I'm just hoping those temps are in celcius
-
@carsoffortlangley Haaa....same. Going to take a drive up the valley backroads today just to get out of the house.
-
@carsoffortlangley Next 24 hours are going to suck biggly...
Rest of the 10 day isn't that bad though: -
@fintail It's the same here in Spokane. White stuff right now and slush later.
-
@carsoffortlangley The cold, the dark, and the gray combine to make it miserable this time of year. I have snow right now but it will be turning to rain/slush later and still no hint of sunshine. Blech. I did invest in new flannels so at least I'll be PNW appropriate.
-
I love the rain! And that's my honest opinion. There are other things I don't like about the PNW (fuck all house prices up here) but rain is actually pretty calming for me
-
@fintail Very nice! Super jelly
-
-26C in Montreal tonight, I'm loving the grey
-
@civicwagonengineer same, nature's trance music. Great to wrench on a car while listening to.
-
It's weeks like this and the snow days that remind me laying up the bike from late fall-spring is the correct choice. Too cold for the tires to ever build heat/grip, roads either damp or with de-ice (wash every ride), and dark most of the day.
Does it suck? Yes. Though I'm now 1/4 through the projected downtime, not bad.
-
Don't you miss clear and sunny prairie days where it's -40?
-
I live in lower south hill now. Snow looks like it might have either just ended or changed to mist.
-
I don't mind the rainy season, actually. After growing up in Chicago and then living in Minnesota for over a decade, I've done my time with snow and cold. I dealt with the Chicago blizzard of '79, the Wisconsin/Minnesota Halloween blizzard of '91, and the winter of '96 when it got down to -45F one night in downtown Minnsapolis. Portland rain is a nice change of pace.
I hate it when the rain freezes, though. Turns my road into a bobsled track. You can get down, but you can't stop at the bottom, and there's no way you're getting back up...
-
Could be worse, it could be sitting right around freezing and alternate rain/snow constantly.
