It's got everything you need if you're the kind of person that calls themselves "classy". There's Rose Gold¹ cladding, it's diamond² studded, there's an unnecessary Z in it, and it even has RGB. All yours for only $50 more than an equivalent kit of plain Crucial sticks!
¹ Cheap copper alloy
² Glass, at best -
I'll stick with my Corsair Pro RGB thanks
-
@samv8 And I'll stick with my non-RGB Ripjaws.

But what about RIPJAWZ G-SKILLZ????
Edit: wait... these are made by Ripjaws? I thought I was joking. Apparently not. -

I only go as far as my Corsair LPX sticks.

They Hyphen is an RGB-friendly blogI learned as we built my son's computer that not all RGB is created equal. The motherboard and CPU fan are RGB-enabled and can be controlled by the board. The power supply we bought is "RGB", but it isn't controllable by the board, just a stupid selector button on the back.

The newest non-work computer in this house is a HP-Compaq 6000 Pro SFF upgraded with 16GB (4x4) of Crucial DDR3, an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 Processor, a 256GB SSD, and a 730 MSI GDDR5 2GB card I threw together this summer for my kid to do school at home. You kids and your fancy computers.
-
Yeah, nah. I'll stick with my non-RGB ECC sticks.
-
@looseonexit feel like upgrading? I have a medium spec PC that I'll be selling soon.

You meant that as a compliment, right? Cause these guys rock!
-
@essextee Oh man, from the thumbnail I thought we were just looking at gold heat spreaders which would be bad, but not so bad in today's sea of RGB everything. But the full size image reveals the true horror.
I'm using Corsair Vengeance LPX, which aside from the stupid name is pretty tame:
The stuff in my HTPC is similarly tame:
Though my previous HTPC build had this stuff, which as you can see features a rifle (complete with iron sights) pressed into the heat spreader, for a thoroughly tasteless package (price was right though):
I'm still not entirely convinced that heat spreaders are really necessary. They made sense for RDRAM since only one chip was active at a time, but it's not clear they make sense for other DRAMs, and plenty of server and value sticks skip the spreaders.

I actually did swap RAM just yesterday, from 2x8G of Corsair LPX 2400C14 (that i was running at 2666mhz) to 2x16G of Klevv Bolt X 2600mhz in CAS 18 (that i run at 3200 CAS 16 ATM) :

More like this. Love the muppets!

@krustywantout Yeah, I figured. But any chance to post Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem...............
-
@facw Both of my desktop machines just have plain Patriot sticks that match the color of the MoBo but are otherwise just bare PCB.

Thanks, but not looking to upgrade just yet. It hasn't melted down to date.
As much as I'd like to have something modern, we use phones/tablets more than computers (aside from work), so I bandaid the two old boxes as much as possible. All the backups are done via a Gateway 5108E w/4GB ram running Win10 via SSD - now I am really embarrassed lol. I would actually love to build a sim race setup, but what I need to do is figure out how to do long term storage of docs/pics (server, external raid enclosure, or I dunno). If baby/family pics disappear into the ether via HDD failure, I will too.
Almost started a thread on that on old Oppo, maybe should make one here.
-
@looseonexit sounds like you need a RAID 1 setup configured as Network Attached Storage. It'll be hooked up to your router and anyone on your wifi can drag and drop files onto it.
-
For some reason I like it

Gross.
