Well, the Camaro is apparently screwed up, and will need to be in the shop for a little while. The problem is that they don't know what is wrong. They heard the noise starting the car and moving it, but couldn't pinpoint the source. They wanted to drive it some to troubleshoot, but it was pouring rain today, and I appreciate them not risking my Camaro in the rain.

So while the Camaro awaits diagnosis, I get to drive a loaner. I asked for one of the brand new C8s tucked in the service lane, but instead I was granted this base model Equinox. Considering we could get up to a foot of snow later this week, the Equinox is probably a better choice.

So if anyone wants to know anything (you don't) about a new base trim Equinox, ask away.

If you neutral drop it hard enough can you squeak the tires?

          Canada built or Mexico built?
And how high have you jumped it yet?

They couldn't have at least given you a metallic green Equinox? That color is sharp!

@snuze is the current equinox still a completely soulless appliance of a car?

@Just-Jeepin I agree! A color would have been nice.

@Italia It is. We have a GMC Terrain Denali that I love and its hard to believe this is basically the same car.

@pip-bip Not sure build location, I'll check into it tomorrow. I haven't tried any jumps... yet.

@Snuze if you pull fuses and mash it can you make it squeak the tires?

Quick, switch the engine with the Jankvagn's redblock. The dealer won't notice.

If it's a base model, it's probably just FWD. No one seems to buy their crossovers in AWD for some reason. It's a pretty major step down.

I still can't believe that GM hasn't shoved the Volt drivetrain into the Equinox. They dropped all that cash developing that drivetrain and won't put it a body style that sells decently. Could have beat Toyota and everybody else to the plug-in hybrid suv market by at least 5 years.

@italia yes it is, even in RHD form and badged as a Holden

@aremmes It would be an interesting swap. I think this has the 1.5L turbo 4 thats good for about 170 HP, so it would be a nice power bump in the wagon. The Equinox is so portly a 50 HP drop might be barely noticeable. The tricky part is the wagon is RWD and the Equinox is FWD, but thats what bellhousing adapters are for!

Is the base Equinox equipped with manuel transmission?

@snuze A foot of snow??? I'm betting under an inch for us. I am supposed to go to WV for the weekend and the place we are going is supposed to get 12-15 inches. They better have a plow someplace because I am not making this the 4th canceled trip of 2020.

Hope your car is sorted soon. I just made an appointment to get the Polestar tune on my Volvo. So January 7th I should have exactly 0% more horsepower and 14% more torque. Mostly it's a transmission remap, but I'll take it.

@annoying_salman No, automatic and I think it's GMs older 6 speed unit. The higher trim cars with the 2.0 engine get the nifty new 9 speed auto, which is quite nice.

@Sovande Awesome about the Polestar tune. I hope you love it! I have no idea what the actual forecast is around here, and it seems like the weather people don't know either. Okay, actually I just looked. Looks like were getting a mix of rain and snow starting at 10 AM. I suspect that means 0 real accumulation.

@snuze Yeah, hopefully it's fun - it's far too expensive at like $1400, but I have a few coupons that should bring it close to a grand. Next will be a new suspension for the El Camino and I am adding catalytic converters to the exhaust.

Any news on the Camaro? Hopefully it's something simple.

@Sovande Sounds like you've got some projects on tap. Im going to have some time off work coming up and plan to do some work on the 245.

No word yet on the Camaro other than they are opening a case on it, which I take to mean either they don't know or it won't be an easy fix.

@s65 @koawaft It will chirp em from a dig, no neutral drop or other shenanigans required. One wheel peels, baby!
