The geometry isn't perfect, but it's about as close as you can get at this scale I think. This was inspired by the YouTuber "Gray Gears," who showed a similar engine in his Lego RX7 model. My engine is similar in design to his, but I couldn't see exactly how he put it together, so mine might be a bit different. It does work smoothly enough that it could be driven by the wheels of a larger model without causing too much resistance.

That is very cool - thanks for sharing! I love lego but never really got into mechanical builds, your posts make me want to do that.

That's awesome!! I'll have to show my son, who is very into building mechanical lego things.

@awesomeaustinv That's fantastic. Seems like it might need a good bit of extra machinery to actually work so it might be difficult to incorporate into a vehicle.

It even makes a vaguely appropriate sound!

@whoistheleader It would have to be a fake model engine, like the fake piston engines in Technic sets, except a rotary. Still the perfect thing for Lego RX7s and rotary Ladas and whatnot!

@jminer Pretty much everything I learned about engineering, I learned from tinkering with Lego. It's so much fun 🙂
