@pip-bip That's pretty damn cool....but also....is that trailer thing safe? I thought lifts are usually like....heavy duty bolted into cement floors...
-
@rallydarkstrike The trailer has posts down to the ground on all four corners.
-
@shop-teacher I do see that, but they look fairly spindly to be holding up the weight of a trailer, many hundred pound lift plus a 1000+lb car...?
-
@pip-bip That's the slickest mobile mechanic setup I've seen since this:

@rallydarkstrike As many health and safety rules as they have on Great Britain, I'm sure it's been calculated and inspected 10 ways from Sunday, and it's fine. Visually it looks very tippy, but I bet it's actually quite stable.

@rallydarkstrike
The trailer would be suitably reinforced to be able to take all that weight and while in a work shop it would be bolted to the concrete floor, here, it would be bolted to the reinforced sections of the trailer. The trailer's corner posts are just to make things that bit more stable and secure. As even a bolted to concrete lift would topple if the vehicle was suitably balanced on the lift, granted there is a marginal leeway front and rear but not likely too much. -

My plumber has a dual axle tipper trailer with a 3 metric tonne load capacity. He carries one of those little tracked excavators around in it. The actual box of the trailer does almost nothing - all the strength is in the chassis. Modifying it to do this job would be a cinch.
-
@pip-bip part of me thinks this trailer needs about 4 ft of outriggers on each side but otherwise, this is a great idea.

Clearly not just a British thing
