Today's truck work
-
It's been unseasonably warm this weekend which made for a nice day to work on some small things on the truck. Park City was supposed to open this Friday but has pushed it back to no named timed. It hasn't been consistently cold enough to blow snow at all either. Hoping that changes soon.
May as well take of advantage of the weather while it's here with the short days though. The truck is never going to not need something done to it but that's half the reason I bought it.
The brake lights aren't the best so I ended up getting some LED bulbs and cleaning the lenses of those, easy job and prefer to have people see when I brake. It was daylight so pictures don't work all too well.
I had some random ski racks that I ended up bolting directly to the wood bed. The bolts ended up being a good bit too long. I somehow grabbed the wrong size nuts but was able to find the 4 needed to around the house.
I already have a rack for the subaru so that also went on for winter prep and to show that car some slight love.
At some point in the last month I lost the ability to open my driver door from the inside without rolling down the window to use the outer door handle. I've been a bit lazy to look at it but it was a quick bend of the wire back to the near original area and we are all fixed. I didn't take a before photo but the bottom part was above the grooved area.
I found some 4" speakers for $20 that I'm sure will quickly want me to get a cheap head unit over the stock 35 year old one. Old speakers are paper broke ones. I'll get to that tomorrow. I also swear I took a photo of the speaker difference but guess not.
and the other day I put on some super cheap rear mud flaps after the old ones fell off somewhere in near succession. I swear they were both there between a $30 fill up and the next stop.
This is a sheet of 2mm rubber carpet backing that I found a cut of at Home Depot. Cut it in to 10"x19" rectangles and still have enough left over for at least one other for $14.
They have held up great so far, plus it was a short roll so it retained a bit of that and curves away from the wheel at the bottom. And to finish it off I saw a RS6 avant with a bike rack at a gas station. Terrible photos incoming
