Given the market lately, the buy it now price of $9500 doesn't seem like all that much of a stretch, even if (last I checked) @David-Tracy's rebuilt XJ was struggling at $9k.

Ok, it's a big stretch, but still, if I weren't burnt out on decades-old Jeeps I'd be tempted to bid on it.

(Ok, so I only retired the unnecessary Jeep shopping with JJ tag for 2 days. So sue me.)

      On walkabout. Back soonish.

That's a ton of money, but for an XJ (2 door no less) it's pretty clean.

@just-jeepin If that's really what those cost now, then I guess that's really what they cost. But they're still $2500 vehicles in my mind. That is just about the perfect spec, though, and nice and stock too.

I’d be happy if I never have to drive one ever again. That’s my hot take on XJ’s.

@just-jeepin I think it’ll hit whatever reserve the seller has on it for sure. I don’t know whether the 2 or 4 door flavors of these are selling for more, but given how few of them there are out and about I’d guess they bring a premium.

The big question is how much profit this guy will make on his flip. According to the history report he has only owned it a month. I wonder what the estate auction price was?

For me personally if it goes for close to the $9500 that’s too much. I had forgotten just how cramped inside these were until I looked at the one for you. I have more head and leg room in my Volt which is a really small car.

@kiltedpadre Just think: probably no more used Jeep wild goose chases, ever! My JL and LJ should tide me over for the next decade or so.

@just-jeepin You’ll just switch to looking at better condition examples since the new Jeep will take the edge off a bit.

@just-jeepin I see DT's Joop is no longer listed -- did he find a buyer?

@dr-zoidberg don’t know, quite possibly. He made an interesting comment in a text message which I won’t spoil, because if true I’m sure it’ll make for one very interesting Jalopnik story.

@classicdatsundebate They are certainly a unique driving experience.

Mine was a decent (at best) example and it was great to have in the winters as a beater, but a refined driving experience it was not. Solid front axle will do that.

I’m used to the #jeeplyfe experience. It’s just that the JL has such a horrible interior. The packaging was super tight for its size and the materials were bad even for Jeep.
                          I’m overly critical, I know.

                            @classicdatsundebate Critical, but not wrong.

Trick of the light, or does that trim molding alternate between black and blue?

@urambo-tauro That seems to be a common failure point for the trim; I’d wager it was replaced.

If this thing has the original BA-10 transmission, then that's too high. It's already bad enough that it uses RENIX fuel injection...

                                  Gorgeous though!

Still trying to sell mine. I don't know that I'll take anything less than $7500 for it. We shall see!
