Still with the Vette Problems
-
As posted to Oppo 1.0 , I should probably post it here too, I went on a rally over the weekend. Of course after all that wrenching it was super nice to get out and drive the Vette hard and fun. We got tons of rain and even some snow, sadly the Vette still has its issues.
Had a particular power surging issue that I have yet to diagnose as there are a number of possibly very expensive reasons. Also appears that the oil over my back bumper and another car's are my car's fault and not the Jensen-Healey we were following.
That picture shows a lot of splatter
Yup, that is a lot of oil under my car. I was down 1 quart before the rally and down 1/4 of a quart by the time I got home. Not good seeing as the leaks appear to be coming from where I tried to fix old oil leaks with new gaskets. sigh
I am seriously considering just burning money and sending her off to the mechanic to get fixed. -
Rear main seal?
-
@rctothefuture nope, front gaskets that I replaced are still leaking. Didn't change the rear main because it wasn't leaking and I don't believe it is/

Aaah the broken red Corvette club....
-
@captdale-is-secretly-british interesting... Fel-Pro gaskets? Had issues with Fel-Pro valve cover gaskets on my Dad's C5. Had to go through 2 sets to get em to stop leaking.
-
@captdale-is-secretly-british could it be a leaky intake manifold? That would leak oil and have potential surge issues, kinda the same problem with a valve cover gasket where the crank case vent isn't happy.
I feel your pain on a constantly non running project, stick with it though
-
@rctothefuture I think so, never had problems with felpro before
-
@captdale-is-secretly-british It's werid, had it happen twice on my Dad's Vette with an LS1. Never had any issues before either, maybe I messed it up? Can't tell you how anxiety inducing it was to get the call for the second time it leaked...
