Why buy a new Maverick When you can get this Maverick for $6,000
-
THIS....... is a 1973 Ford Maverick. By all accounts one of the worst cars from 1970's Ford. The condition of this car is simply amazing. There is no logic as to why it is still in near show room condition other than it really does only have 46,000 miles on the odometer and it spent it's entire life in a garage.
See add here: Maverick -
@highlander NP.

@highlander
It’s such a turd, but I’d DD that thing today! -
@highlander $6k. For a four-door Maverick. There is only one four-door Maverick that I'd pay that much for and Jack Roush had a hand in that one.
-
@classicdatsundebate LS Swap, T5 manual, beef up suspension, brakes, steering, go tire shredding.
-
2jz/barra swap, keep it inline six. not a bad looking ride. i'd fuck with it.
-
@highlander Set that abortion on fire! It symbolizes all that was wrong with 70's car designs! AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

And that was saying something! 1970s domestics weren't generally good but this one is from right before they got power sapping emissions stuff I think so it could be worse. Still, that's like finding a pristine Chevy Aveo in 2050.
-
@whoistheleader that's a good analogy.
-
@highlander Or paying 18k for a Chevy Metro?
Actually it's haunting me that somewhere out there there probably is a pristine base 2001 Chevy Aveo sedan sitting in a garage with 7,000 miles.
-
@whoistheleader the only redeeming quality here is the 250 cubic inch inline 6. To put it into perspective my datsun makes 150 HP from 146 cubic inches and this ford makes 91 hp from 250 cubic inches...so this really is not a redeeming quality. It also shows why the Datsun Z car was so amazing in the 1970's, imagine a car that could actually go over 100 mph and not be a Porsche.
-
@classicdatsundebate It's gone right around from turd to coprolite.
The stink is gone and now it's a glorious fossil. -
OOOOOO excellent candidate for a Rotary swap. And I can turn it into a truck like the new Maverick.
-
@highlander Hey, just the power figure of that per liter is about on par with some cars from even 10 years ago and yours makes buckets of torque.
-
So i came here to crap all over this. I'd rather have a Pinto. I'd rather have an Edsel.
It is clean though.
I guess I'd take it over many of the 80's era Ford models.
If they were going to go through the trouble of saving one they could have at least saved a 302 sample.
-
@john-norris I'd take a '58 Edsel in a heartbeat. With Teletouch, of course, and preferably a Pacer, because the Ranger is a bit plain and the bigger ones are a bit too big
-
@highlander Could it be any more blue?! Interior, engine, even the air intake is blue!
-
This merits more discussion. I may start another thread instigated by your choice of Edsels.

But the kind of person who takes good enough care of their car to last this long isn't the kind of person to splurge on unnecessary options. Almost all the super clean mundane finds always seem to be base spec.

@highlander
this one for me
