aka Kurakkupaipu in Japanese (according to the Google), or crack pipe in the land of the free.
I don't know why people think they can sell their 15+ year old motorcycle, not even anything interesting or rare or cool, right before the riding season comes to an end, for 60% of the showrroom price ! Or 200% of the published trade values ! (even though these are to be taken with a large grain of tibetan salt, but that's another discussion for another day.
Case in point, this example of many, in the land of the derps, of the lutefisk and of a million frozen lakes :

$5,000 for a 2006 VStrom 650 with 6,000 miles.
Stop it people, stop it now.

@darkbrador What would you say a fair price actually is for that bike? I've heard very good reviews on them.
-
@ibrad $2,500 is fair. $3,000 would be a stretch.
I recently bought a DL1000 of the same generation, in immaculate condition, with beaucoup more oompf, for half of that asking price.
They certainly are good bikes, but completely outdated by recent offerings.
-
@darkbrador I bought a younger and bigger engine model with half the miles for half the money, with hard luggage when I had mine.

That's pretty much the story on every machine I own! Except my chainsaw maybe.

I think these expectations are ignoring last 2 years of massive inflation and limited supply of new vehicles. At this point 3500 is probably a good deal if everything is in order and clean

@darkbrador Or that one here : $25k for a 2 years old Ducati Panigale that retails for $21k. Four grands gets you the sought-after warranty delete option, and two years worth of somebody else's farts and missed maintenance. What a good deal !
