Meanwhile, in Austin....
-
No idea what the story is here. My son texted the photo to me.
-
@ttyymmnn Whoops, hahaha!
-
@ttyymmnn not going anywhere fast!
-
@ttyymmnn oops
-
@ttyymmnn I've learned recently, that these "boots" are anti-theft devices....seriously. Just FYI.
-
@nickhasanexocet well it is alpine so they weren't going anywhere fast before the boot.
-
Interesting. It didn't seem quite robust enough for a police boot.

Real boots cover the lug nuts so the recipient can't just remove the wheel.
-
@idjeff what weird use...it's not like they are rare, you would probably have a hard not finding a Suburban on any given street in Texas
-
@idjeff interesting. I didn't know this was a thing!
It looks like a sticker on the window too. I wonder what thats all about.
-
I just found out that scammers have entered the booting arena.
https://www.austintexas.gov/article/beware-possible-illegal-parking-boot-scam
ATD has been notified about a possible illegal parking boot scam occurring in East Austin. A vehicle parked on a public street was illegally booted by an unknown individual or entity. The warning posted on the vehicle directs the vehicle owner to pay a fee by calling a private phone number.
-
@bicyclebuck 1. Find the scammer
2. Drag their vehicle into a no parking spot
3. Boot all 4 wheels
4. Laugh -
@ttyymmnn joke's on the guy who booted them if this is the pit crew's ride...
(Ok Alpine not Redbull so add another second ..) -
@ttyymmnn I've got the fix for that!
-
@italia told y'all alpine wasn't going anywhere fast haha(broken car fp1)
-
@ttyymmnn boxboxbox
