Just a Quickie

Just a quick detail after swapping on my "winter" wheels.
Yes it is unfortunately creeping on that time again.I other news:
Red Squirrel #4 was eliminated this weekend. Unfortunately, #4 managed to tear apart the tie rod boots on the new van before meeting his demise, so that will need to undergo complete suspension rebuild shortly as I always do everything at once (this means my higher spring rate, 1.5" drop springs will be ordered).
The Rally Van has been running flawlessly since the latest new pump, fingers crossed this one holds. -
@long_voyager94 i just can't grasp having to change wheels every 6 months. to me its bizarre.

Gotta get to that tasty, tasty grease somehow
-
@pip-bip it becomes 2nd nature. Sticky summer tires turn to rocks at about 3°

The only good Red Squirrel...
Is a ded red squirrel
-
@pip-bip Its like rotating your tires but on swap day you don't have to lift both ends of the car simultaneously. So, aside from dragging them out, cleaning the old ones and storing them again, it's easier!
-
@pip-bip when you want to get home after a little 8” snow storm a good set of snows are about all that works. I have AT tires on my Honda and they work but I’m still putting blizzaks on it in about 1 month.

My ATs on the Rally van are absolutely wonderful in the snow. So much so that I swapped them onto the car in place of the car's dedicated snow tires for winter.
Even the new van on Altimax RTs has no issue with 8-10" of snow.

@long_voyager94 the Michelin tires on the Honda are not nearly as good in the winter as most AT tires, they lean towards city/highway with a hard compound and low tread blocks. Oh well, I might eventually get some real AT tires but the Blizzaks I found were nearly new for about $400.

@highlander I mean, the Grabbers are M/S rated studdable ATs.......
