Apparently the new M3/M4 configurator has landed.

I won't ever be in the market for these unless hell freezes over and we get a wagon version, but I'm still inclined to check it out.

Apparently, the M3 base is 473 bhp and only comes with a manual, while the M3 Competition has 503bhp and only comes with DCT. I did not realize this.

In any case, here is my lightly optioned base M3, in Isle of Man Green.

Too bad there is no option to fix that nose.

Maybe the aftermarket will fix the nose. Then again, I keep thinking that someone must make aftermarket bumper covers to fix the predator mouth abomination on the front of most recent Toyota/Lexus vehicles, but I'm not aware that anyone does. There are a bunch of modern Lexus vehicles that I would considering owning someday but for the face not even my mother can love.

@ita97 I remember being behind a Toyota Avalon on the highway. I was far enough back at first so I couldn’t tell what it was yet, and I remember thinking whatever it was I liked it.

I got around it and was horrified to see this in my mirror.

I'm still amazed by the monstrosity that is the front end of the Avalon TRD.

I'm pretty sure there are aftermarket solutions in the works.

Man, no matter how many times I see that front end, it still looks like a joke of a bad photoshop.

Exactly. I'm onboard with the rest of their design language, but I just can't get past the gaping grille thing on the front. They have a number of cars I love the look of from the side or rear.

@ita97 I can't really get behind anything BMW's been putting out in the last ..8? or so years. It's all just been sharpening edges on rehashes of successful designs, and adding trinkets here and there to signify that you spent more money on a higher trim. The i3 and i8 were genuine advances in production technology, ergonomics, and the looks reflect that.

                      This thing, it's just tone-deaf.

@saracen It is truly, astonishingly bad.

Toyota's pretty much never had a real house style, but the Cylons of the last few years have been egregious. I thought the Highlander was bad, until this. Lexus is a whole 'nother story. It's all like trying to evoke emotional stuff out of engineering requirements while missing the point of what we, as humans, ascribe emotional meaning to. Yeah, it's all just metal and plastic in shapes, but no one's gonna look at one of these in 40 years and restore it to its original condition.

@saracen Even in black it's bad.

Hopefully IND and others can "fix" it. Maybe they'll bail on it with the LCI like Chevy did with the 2019 Camaro SS's gaping maw.

One of the guys I follow on IG is already working on it:

                                https://www.instagram.com/p/CIK3Duqp3sd/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet

He's got some experience modifying AMG GT and C7 so I'm guessing this might hit it out of the park.

2009 Corvette Coupe, 2004 BMW 330Ci, lots n lots of pedal powered things!

@saracen Spicy Taek - The beaver tooth grille isn't nearly as problematic as the wheels. All I want is a base model in black with red calipers with some goddam proper polished goddam BBS forged wheels.

Fortunately it's fixable for ~$6k. You should make a sizable portion of that back by selling the stockers to somebody that wants to make their plebeian 320 appear more M-ish.

We'll have to agree to disagree, because I have no problem with the wheels. The entire design language of the car is spoiled by the front end.

Personally I'd rather go local and custom order some forged HRE's for that price.
