DOTS Pleasanton

Took a walk during lunch and saw some interesting vehicles. Figured I'd share what is in a few blocks of the new place.
First off - which of you jokers lives a block from me?
Next a sweet old Studebaker
A k5 blazer with a terrible paint job in an interesting color.
Not pictured there were 3 houses in a row that had a Nissan Hard Body then a 92-96 F150 followed by a Volvo 240 sedan. All just normally daily driven.
This wasn't today, but the first I can ever recall seeing. Just hanging out in a home depot parking lot this weekend.
A lotus Elan!
Man am I loving California!!!
-
@jminer man, you're making me nostalgic for the time I used to live down there. Many very good cycling/moto roads near you, especially around Mt. Diablo. And many more I never really explored because I was in Berkeley and not the South Bay.
-
@beefchips I've been here barely 6 weeks but am loving it. Spent the first bit in San Jose but am up in Pleasanton now. Just moved into a place and it's quite nice. The weather is so far amazing and the car spotting is Wonder.
-
@jminer Oh yeah the weather is great. Being from Oregon I always had to laugh... there are so few rainy days that when a storm comes through all the stores put prominent displays of new umbrellas and rubber boots in the front door.
-
If there are interesting cars everywhere, can you really appreciate them? How about you send the Elan and the Studebaker back East to balance things out, eh?
That Elan is seriously cool though.
-
@jminer the two cars I bought in California were in near perfect condition when we left one was 7 years old and the other was 20 years old. That Northern California climate is easy on cars.
-
@jminer
Gib the Elan, pls. -

Gib the Elan, pls.I walked past it as it was hidden quite well between large cars on other side. I spun right around and just stared at it for a minute. It was positively tiny!

It is, there are so many random old vehicles that don't have a spec of rust and the sun isn't brutal either here so paint and interior is usually in good shape too.
I'm terrified of what'll happen once I get settled in and cruising CL.

Yeah, that ability to hide and the tiny power to fit the tiny size may make it a deathtrap in today's traffic. But I don't care.

I may eventually get a bit numb, but it'll be a while. I've driven 20 years in the rust belt so I'll appreciate it for a while me thinks.
-
@jminer Don't buy a car from a Russian truck driver who lives in a farm house in the middle of a strawberry field and you should be okay.

Wowzers!
