Toyota Intensifies
-
A fourth vehicle to the stable, 2007 Tundra DoubleCab, 5.7 2WD with 173k. My in laws old vehicle. It was just registered, titled, from its previous home state of NC.
It was purchased new, and has given them no trouble other than routine maintenance. It does need tires, but that's about it.
I'm not a huge fan of the cap, especially when backing in to the driveway at night.
We're now 2 blue, 2 red vehicles. Wee!
-
If you told me it was a 2019 I would not have known the difference
-
@zaphod-s-heart-of-gold Toyota, the official vehicle of "it was good last year so we kept the same for this year, but we at least make more updates then Nissan."
-
New head unit and backup camera?? I love having a cap on mine, but it is used as a dogmobile 99% of the time.
-
@musashi66 Adding a backup camera would fix backing in. I don't mind the cap, but having 2 SUVs that are capable dog/dry cargo haulers, the cap is kind of redundant.
-
@huzer the answer to the cap is (of course)....flatbed.
-
@zaphod-s-heart-of-gold As an '07, it's just like my '12 was, both inside and out, design wise. I forget itfthey mildly updated it in 2013 or 2014 (I think it was '14). Even the 4Runner design is 11 years in overall, and 7 years since the "refresh".
-
@huzer Nice! So, does that extend the streak?
-
@huzer On some level I know there is a difference, but off hand I cannot tell you exactly what that is. I know that I'm right only if I say the newer one looks angrier, because that's where we are with vehicle design in 2020
-
@e90m3 Nissan in 2009: Keep the Frontier for one more year, it's still selling well
Nissan in 2019: How long can we keep doing this?
-
@davesaddiction 21 vehicles in 20 years? This one doesn't quite feel the same though, as it's been in the family for 14 years already. It's actually the reason I bought my 2012 Tundra...after it being a tow vehicle, workhorse truck, the '07 just kept ticking along with no issues, no rattles, or squeaks. About the worst thing that's happened is the fabric on the driver's seat ripped, so my mother in law sewed it up.
-
@zaphod-s-heart-of-gold Definitely not enough of a difference where it matters, though.
-
Nice!! These are super tough as you know haha. What's it gonna be used for?
-
@huzer Not the same, but counts.
You can take the year off! Good luck with that...
-
@spacekraken Just an extra vehicle around the house. Maybe the hockey commuter vehicle if it ever gets to the point where I'm lugging more than just me and my son around when hockey starts back up in full.
My in laws moved out here (by here, meaning into my house), so they'll use it if need be, or drive around the Grand Cherokee, as it's a bit more comfortable.
-
That Yota is legit nice. Hard to imagine it's seen 173k.
-
@huzer Ah nice! Seems like a good hauler as needed.
-
@davesaddiction 2021 will be the year of car/truck mods and die cast cars only. No new vehicles! Maybe.
-
@highlander It's clean overall. I need to do a good interior detail, but all of the exterior scratches on it, I was able to buff out. There are a couple of small dents on the passenger side that could easily be PDR'd.
-
@huzer Looks good! I moved to university in one and it was a comfy ride. Pretty good highway cruiser, minus the mileage.
-
-
Is it a 2007 or a 2017? Hard to tell. They'll last forever, but so will a first gen Tundra and I much prefer them. Still, that's one vehicle you want to have on your side. Congrats.
-
@whoistheleader Oh, I'd love to have another 1st gen. I don't mind the second gen, especially when it's free.
-
@huzer Free? That's an incredible vehicle to be given for free.
-
yeaaaa the tinted cap SUCKKKSSS for backing up. I pretty much needed the backup cam on my truck. 'grats on the new tool!
