No, sadly, not a fresh Jeeps of Reddit post.
The iOS Reddit app recommended this subreddit to me today, and amidst the photos here are some real gems.

We really need COTD here.

I think this has to be the best accidental renaissance (I'm sure it's been posted on that subreddit multiple times)

@just-jeepin
The grain and stylizing on this one is peeeeeerfect.

The sad part is that at some point in the future, yung-nutz will become old-nutz and start regretting his choice of username. On Reddit, the account name can't be changed, so it's either suck it up and deal with it or create a new account with a reasonable name.

@bicyclebuck Ha! No ragrets.

I don't know much about accidental Renaissance, but the photo of the priest and the dying soldier was taken on June 4 (1962) by Hector Rondón Lovera, photographer of Caracas, for the Venezuelan newspaper “La Republica”. It won the World Press Photo of the Year and the 1963 Pulitzer Prize for Photography. The original title of work is “Aid From The Padre”. You can read about it here. It's an extraordinary photo.
-
Thank you for the historical context. Makes that photo even more profound.
-
@samv8 Don't ever change. Hackney.
-
@classicdatsundebate this was actually in Manchester rather than London
-
I recognize the pose in that photo from something very different. Now I know where Normal Rockwell took his inspiration.
-
@whoistheleader Good catch. I even wrote a post about that.
-
@just-jeepin I remember that. I wrote a research paper about Rockwell in HS so I remembered this specific painting.

I wonder. Rockwell's painting came three years after the photo, so it's entirely plausible.
-
@ttyymmnn I would say even probable. It's not exact but I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least an unconscious inspiration.
