$3 mil for a whole ass locomotive. No clue if it's real, a joke, or an extremely niche scam. -
@thejwt Hmm A whole ass locomotive would be HELLA cool. No deal unless it comes with a track to play on, I'd also like a conductor uniform thrown in.
-
@thejwt It must be a joke (it FB marketplace after all). I don't think a brand new locomotive actually costs that much. My extensive 15 seconds of googling suggested you can get a new one for under 2 mil.
Now if it were on BAT, it would be serious... and cost even more.

@thejwt I would definitely have it repainted in the Chessie System livery:
Speaking of, it's interesting that the C&O branded car(?) in the background has survived. It's been a long time since either Chessie or C&O were a thing. But hey my apartment has pieces of some Boston And Maine rolling stock in the lobby, so maybe someone wants to cut it up for some vintage industrial decoration?

@thejwt I saw a train engine sitting in someone's (very rural) front yard as a lawn ornament. I wish I'd turned around to take a photo, was absolutely bizarre.
-
@thejwt It's got to be a joke. It looks like this engine is still in service.

@roadkilled I figured you'd at least have to remove the CSX branding if it were privately owned
-
@just-jeepin I've seen old cabooses and the occasional rail car as lawn art, but never the engine. Interesting.

@facw ZOMG, yes. Love the Chessie System livery, used to see them quite a bit going past the US Steel Duquesne Works back when I was a lad.
