HHR SS Panel Van with 2000 miles
-
What a surprise. The owner of this incredibly rare garage queen HHR SS Panel Van doesn't know how to put together a Craigslist ad. Supposedly #8 of 216 made with 2,445 miles on it and it's also bright red! Too bad this is the only photo.

Oh yeah, and he wants $30,000 for it. Might have better luck on Bring A Trailer because he put the price as $30 in Craigslist.

Love when people set their displayed price as their asking price divided by a 1000...
-
@civicwagonengineer Yeah, because if I want to buy a 20k-40k fun vehicle I'm going to set a range of price to filter out the crapcans. This showed up right next to the $500 Dodge Neon. How do you expect anyone to even see your ad if you can't be bothered to type out some 0s?

@whoistheleader And the memories come flooding back!!! I drove an HHR panel van for circuit city's "Firedog" division for a short while. Managed to lock the keys in it but was able to reach it with "grabber tool" VERY easily.
-
@tripper
TIR Circuit City existed. Totally forgot! -
@tripper Just found an old CD case that said "firedog" on it. Had no idea what the hell it was for, all makes sense now.

Shall we assume the mileage is actualy 245000?

@tripper I too worked there many years ago, in the warehouse though. So much stuff was stolen by employees...
-
Man I could do a "Circuit City Stories" segment about that firedog crazyness. When CC closed up I was the guy (for the mid-atlantic region) that would show up if one of our contractors REALLY fucked your house up.
-
@whoistheleader Did you say 2009...?
Man, if he had $25k burning a hole in his pocket for an "investment", that sure would've been a good year to buy index funds... Sure hope he liked looking at this thing the past decade.
-
@jminer OMG even the liquidation company! I was there until the bitter end and the guy from the liquidation company at my store was taken out in handcuffs as he was shipping stuff to himself/family all over the country.
-
@tripper Whoa!
-
@tripper crazy how much you can get away with once a liquidater is in. My cousin worked at a Kmart that went through it. She was handed clothing, food, a grill, tools and a bunch of other stuff by employees as a "bonus" for the year. They would leave the store every day with bags of stuff, since they pretty much threw out the inventory lists.
She gave me a jack and a bunch of misc. tools (funnels, screwdrivers, rags, etc.) for christmas. All picked out and grabbed as she was leaving on the last day.

That’s nuts, I was there when the company was definitely having trouble, but before the bankruptcy, 2004. It was an insane place to work (even compared to the theme park I worked in) when doing inventory or other after hours events people would literally put porn on all the TVs. I’ve also never worked a place with such universal hate for its customers.
-
@whoistheleader Huh, I don't remember this combo, but sounds pretty potent according to Motor Trend. Slightly faster than a BRZ in a straight line, and maybe can do some good cornering, too.
Still, when the ad says "starting at $30k" I think a brand new car that is actually intended for sport would be a better use of money. This seller is looking for a very, very niche market of the handful of people who actually wanted one of these new. I am skeptical that he will find that market, especially with this approach.
-
@davesaddiction On guy hung a 60" plasma (nearly 300lbs) with 17 toggle bolts into nothing but drywall..... Fell off the wall obviously...on a twenty thousand dollar credenza type thingy annnnnnnnd started a house fire...

Bring a Trailer and maybe he'll get 20k. I don't think the market for these is as strong as he thinks it is.

What kind of person can afford a $20,000 credenza an has Circuit City install a TV? Also, I hope that employee has roughed up before he was fired because that's stupidity rarely found outside Datsun's police blotter.
-
@tripper That's amazing.

I asked myself that almost every time we went into a really nice house! And the answer is...even rich people are cheap as fuck.
He was a "contractor" (some creature they hired off CL...)
-
@tripper I want you to start a thread with just these kinds of stories.

Great entertainment

Makes me feel better. Even jobs around the house I wish I had done better, never had an issue like that
