Ford Comete Monte Carlo
-
@Tripper posted a photo yesterday of a Ford Comete. A friend of mine actually has one here in Michigan. He bought from the Ford family in the late 60s when he was a young Ford designer, and fully restored it in the early 2000s. The attached photos are from the 2007 Concours de Elegance in Rochester, MI. He changed the bumpers and a few other details to make the car look better. It's painted a gorgeous dark blue and has a tan leather interior. This one also has the standard size flathead V8 and a 4 speed manual transmission.
I also found this article about the Comete line that some might find interesting. There are additional photos of this car at various shows in this article.

@green-truck Very cool! What a lovely car. I had never heard of or seen one before.

-
@green-truck Man that is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! I'd love to see one at a show or IRL
-
@green-truck Great looking car. PS, that "cobalt" or "Prussian" blue is a great looking color on a car!

Oh man. I just asked @pip-bip for some eye bleach after one of his posts. Now I need a second dose!
-
@pip-bip Kind of. That morning it wouldn't start to drive onto the show field, so they had to tow it. I got to drive it on a rope behind a John Deere Gator
Another friend stopped by later and was able to fix it on the show field, so they were able to drive it through the review.

@green-truck imagine a universe where is was Fords cheap, fast, fun car instead of the Mustang.
Reading the article it would have been more like a Corvette competitor, which would have been rad. -
@green-truck
Ah, Ford France!
Bought by Simca who sold the last few under their own name.
PSA still own the factory. -
@cé-hé-sin my friend actually refers to this car as his French Ford
