Poll: Pick your illness or medical procedure

@manwich root canal and colonoscopy are one-and-done. Root canal pain lasts quite a while though, from what I understand.
-
@manwich I have Eczema, and my hands are almost literally falling apart from it. I'll gladly have a root canal or be probed in exchange for my daily plague.
-
@jordan this is where my wife is at. Pine salve seems to help... But not much. It's a raw deal .. Literally
-
@hammerheadfistpunch It's always fun when it just tears at the joint mid lift. I actually enjoyed my Asthma more.

I went with the Eczema since I'm familiar with it and know how to deal with it.

Me too! I find liberal use of good cream and minimal use of harsh soap helps.

I have Asthma too!
We're disease-brothers!

@manwich My Asthma is pretty much gone at this point luckily. It's nearly killed me, so it's only fair for it to disappear.

Mine used to be much worse when I was young... as in visit-the-hospital-and-stay-for-a-week-or-three bad... in a bed surrounded by a plastic bubble.
These days, I can sometimes go for a month or more without using my puffer.
Though the fact I'm in a non-smoking house now and that I grew up with my dad smoking a pack a day may be contributing factors to this!
-
@manwich I'm old enough to have had a preventative colonoscopy. It's an awful 24 hours, but that's it. The actual procedure is short, and the recovery time is a couple hours. The preparation is hell, but it's not as bad as food poisoning or a bad bout of the flu. This is the first time "colonoscopy" might win a poll.
-
@manwich Yeah, I had a few multi day stays as a kid. One of them in which they kept the crash cart next to me. I usually have a flare up once a year during fall/winter, but it's usually due to a lung infection. Didn't have one last fall though, probably due to no longer living where it gets "cold."
-
@jordan my wife has an on and off form of eczema. I wouldn’t wish it on anybody but the most heinous of humans.
Edited, because my god the typos. Where were you autocorrect? Where!?
-
Well, I've had eczema my entire life and have simply learned to live with it, and I had a colonoscopy a couple of years ago. The procedure was fine, but prep was kind of a drag. Never had a root canal, or herpes, so I'll stick with the devil I know and choose colonoscopy. Cause the eczema can be a bitch sometimes.

I've had eczema (atopic dermatitis) for 56 years now. How do you treat yours? Mine is more annoying than anything. My son has it worse, but it's gotten much better since he went back out into the sunlight daily for band practice.

Asthma, allergies, and eczema are the trifecta of miserableness.
-
@ttyymmnn I have a steroid cream for it. I have to wear gloves for work, and the sweat seems to irritate it though. I also think our shit water down here irritates it, as I wore gloves before and didn't have nearly as many issues in SC.

I was going to say exactly this lol
-
@manwich alcohol can fix the colonoscopy problem

and lube

@jordan I have it a TINY bit on my face in two spots, but it's very minor and you often can't tell it's there...it just flairs up once and awhile.
-
Agreed. Root canals are easy. One big bit of pain with the nerve block, but then it's easy. When it's done, there's no more pain which is usually why you get one done in the first place.

It does. Especially when it gets infected (mine did). I'd still take that over eczema or herpes, which never end.
The colonoscopy is definitely the one to pick here. They put you under, and nobody leaves the office limping.

@beefchips I had a colonoscopy last week. My the anesthesia messed up my throat, I am still hoarse.
