Fixed my blank switches with decals
-
Somewhere in my many many hours of scouring the CivicX forums for ideas of stuff to do with my Si, I encountered someone who mentioned they got fun vinyl decals for their blank switches from Everything Vinyl Decal. I loved this idea, so I got taco and Eject-O (seat-O cuz) decals for the two blanks forward of my sport button.

@texturedsoyprotein I'm a big fan of the Ejecto Seat!
Wifey got me this is a gift shortly after I bought the car. Super happy with it!
-
I would be forever disappointed when I pressed the taco button and nothing happened

That is brilliant! Now I'm thinking about all the blank switches I could repurpose. Perhaps a 'spork' button. Because spork =/= sport.
Also, is that an electronic parking brake with a stick? Ugh.

@texturedsoyprotein [slow clap]
-
@texturedsoyprotein do the blanks click like a real button?
-
@texturedsoyprotein That's pretty clever.

Yes and I actually kinda like it. I don't do e-brake turns and the button is convenient.

Unfortunately no.

This is fantastic.
-
@texturedsoyprotein Too bad. Button blanks < unlabeled buttons.
-
I may need that Taco button
-
This is amazing, I need to order some of these!
-
@texturedsoyprotein ok but ya better make w the taco

This is an untapped market

I've had a set of these on my eBay watch list for ages.
I'd like to add them to the car but always hold back from actually doing it. One day. -
Man, now I wish either of my cars had buttons so that I could do this. I guess I could replace a switch on the subaru like the useless intercooler sprayer
-
I've always wanted to add one that lights up when you press it and says "Please do not press this button again," a la Hitchhiker's.
-
My dad's Mini had missiles, thumbtacks, and bombs. I need to get some for my car, though the blank switches aren't actually buttons, whereas his were (they just weren't wired to anything).
-
Oh I need these now haha! Tons of blanks around the shifter.

You'd be even more bummed if you forgot to check the glovebox...
-
@texturedsoyprotein You need an Oppo button

I missed this post a few days ago....planning to get some off that site now! thoughts on quality, install, etc?
-
I love this
-
@foghat1981 The quality seems fine but obviously haven't had them long enough to see how they hold up over time. Install is very simple. First you wipe down the area with alcohol or glass cleaner, basically something that'll evaporate ASAP. Then you peel the backing off and the decal is on sticky transfer paper, press that down onto the area real good, then slowly peel up the transfer paper so the decal sticks to the button.
You just have to be good at eyeballing them so they line up correctly with the buttons as they're just random squares, not cutouts that match the shape of specific cars' buttons. I'm pretty happy with how I lined them up, but ideally I'd scootch the taco slightly more forward, and the eject slightly to the right. But we're talking a couple millimeters here. I eyeballed them first before taking the backing paper off so I had the general idea of where they were going once the sticky part was exposed.
