They have not only the industry average ($43,355, up $3,789 in the past year), but also averages by manufacturer, brand, and category. Some interesting tidbits:

Cadillac biggest % change (up 32.6%).

Only two brands are cheaper than last year, Fiat (down 5.1%) and Porsche (down 0.6%).

Porsche is also the most expensive average ($96,344) and Fiat the cheapest ($26,963).

EVs are down 12.9%, to an average of $49,938.

Fullsize trucks are expensive. Average $57,325 (up 8.7%).

Fullsize SUVs are expensiver. Average $67,134 (up 3.5%).

@nermal EVs going down is the only positive I see here.

@nermal I'd still like to see the median, to see what regular folks are actually buying, since the average is most certainly skewed by sales at the really high end that don't reflect the market as a whole. But, it seems like nobody tracks that data, for whatever reason, even though, if they're able to calculate an average, they should be as to get that as well.

@cb EV pricing is skewed because it includes both $30k Leafs and $150k Taycans in the same category. Would be interesting to see the EVs broken out by class.

I am a huge fan of the median value in data sets but not many share my enthusiasm. I'd really like to see a median of the upper and lower 50%s too.

You can kinda sorta get the idea of that by looking at brand or category. For example, looking the lowest tier brands like Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Kia, all up over 10%. Also categories, like regular compact car / CUV, again both up 7%.

@nermal Good news is I could get a 230i specked the way I'd buy it for under 40k:

Yup... it's something to get charged up about. Definitely electrifying news!

@nermal Gonna be a while before they're not expensive, considering nobody is buying them and nobody can make them...

Some journalist told me about this site. Now I own three cars.

@nermal I can't imagine being the average dude, and spending $43k on a soulless truck or SUV that I don't actually care about.

@ranwhenparked with average full size pickup at 57k and mid size 43k, I don't think the median would be that far off. It would be more interesting, but even leaving pickups aside (20%of the market) luxury cars accounted for 14.5% and those all start at 40k. even entry brands, vw subaru 35k mazda honda hyundai 33k
