Bachelor Parties When You're Old
-
Up for a big ole mystery this weekend. A Bachelor party at the beach w/ sixteen dudes. I think the youngest is in his late 20's but the rest of us are anywhere from 34-40 (I'm 36) most of us are Fathers. Opposite to what you might think, all 16 of us know each other and most of us went to high school together. The guy getting married is SUPER easy going, which is great but it also means his best man has had a real hard time planning stuff for us... Were going to dinner one night and have a go kart place reserved afterward... That's a lot of time to kill...this could be a super chill weekend or it could take a turn for the wild.
Anyway, I'm cruising down in the M3 with my best pal of 20+ years. Have to have an acountabilabuddy for these sorts of things.
Post your suggestions for twilight bachelor parties/large parties. Also here are a couple funny related things:

@tripper Imagine having an accountabilabuddy for two years. I can't.

@tripper throw throw burrito

@tripper If you are into sports setup as many screens as possible and just have them on all the time. It will draw a subset of people, and there are usually enough interesting things happening to just kind of chill, talk, and occasionally watch the games.
Also, I'm a big fan of session beers for these type of things.
-
@tripper sounds like a fun weekend! Go find a target shooting place or a distillery to visit..... preferably in that order.

That will definitely happen everyone loves sports cept me, haha but I can deal. There will also be a game cube with kart and smash setup somewhere. There will be plenty of beers, but I'm curious as to what the spread will look like. Prob fancy beers day one and 40 cases of bud light day 2...

Just did this last weekend, we're all in our early 30s. Camped, floated down a river with some beers for a few hours Saturday, went out to dinner and drinks, came back and drank some more. I was in bed before midnight both nights. It was pretty great.
We've all been friends since high school or right after as well. We can kill a solid week just sitting chilling by the fire cracking jokes and talking shit about each other in the woods.

Cornhole, washers, or horseshoes is a great way to pass the time while hanging out and drinking.
-
@davesaddiction I know there will be at least one corn hole setup, I'm bringing KanJam, and Spike Ball
-
@tripper Which beach are you heading down to? I might be able to suggest some activities that fit the "chill" category.
-
Late night poker night with nickels and dimes? Two tables and then a "winners" table at the end?
A thing I know about myself: I'm not a great conversationalist without something else going on. If I have a yard game, or a parlor game, or a card game, I have no problem, but if the only thing I'm doing is sitting around trying to make conversation, I struggle sometimes.
My shop has a ping pong table and a dart board.

@bloody-the-resident-shitposting-saffer Were somewhere in DE so OCM is close... However this is the weekends that all of the trash drives down in their trash cars to do trash things, formerly known as H20i. Also it is my opinion that OCM kind of sucks even before that.
We'll likely stick around the house or whatever beach is close

Casino!
-
@tripper First and foremost. I'd like to thank you all..... for the invite. We here at oppo love not being invited...
Second - Covid is still a thing so for 16 guys to hang, you might have to do outside shenanigans...
Boating
Ax Throwing
Gun shooting
Go cart racing
Actual rent a car on track and go racingThird - bachelor party is supposed to be an event whereby your buddies do their best at throwing girls at you to try and convince you to change your mind - making sure you've chosen wisely...so in theory, girls are mandatory... but that might be an old school of thought.

@tripper dig your finest white oakley gascans and lax pinnie out of the closet and show the youts how to shotgun a beer. embrace it.

That will likely happen if there is one around. My guess is that Sat will be the big night and there will be three groups. Casino/Strip club guys, house drinkin' guys, and mushrooms/adventure guys. I will likely end up being a weed only "dad" for the mushroom crew.
-
@tripper Oh yeah I know all about H20I garbage, there are a bunch of great brewpubs in Rehoboth also taking the ferry from Cape May is pretty fun but might be too short notice. It's a bit of a detour but Woodies Crab House in North East MD has awesome blue crab when they're in season. They're caught daily so are straight off the dock onto your plate fresh.

Depends on the group, with one this big I'm sure someone will be out to go to a strip club. I'll be out on that one though

My recommendation is to set up a weekend long Olympic decathlon. With event medalists and overall medalists. In each event 1st place gets 5 points, 2nd place gets 3 points, 3rd place gets 1 point. Last place gets -3 points.
You can make your own events, below are suggestions:
- Poker (Texas hold 'em tourney style)
- corn hole
- darts (cricket or 301)
- billards (8 ball or 9 ball)
- shuffle board (bar style)
- mario kart
- smash bros
- bocce
- go kart
- beer pong/irish car bomb chugging race
Find one bar that has shuffle board, darts, and billiards and make an afternoon of it.
non-decathlon events:
sporting clays (private lesson if you have a good chunk of noobs)
brewery tour
distillery tour
paint ball -
@tripper I've been to a few in my day (I'm in my 40s) and as long as that "one guy no one knows" from college doesn't show up with "party favors" I'm sure you guys will have a nice relaxing fiesta.
