I really want a 3LT Colorado or 3SC Canyon

But my Lord they are rare as hen's teeth. Oh well, I'll just keep checking the websites for my unicorn.
For those who don't know about these odd trucks.

You can ls swap any of the colorados but don't. Ask me how I know.
-
@carbon-fiber-sasquatch Not only rare but INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE! I still see clean ones out there for over $20k as they know what they haaaaaaave.
-
@dr-zoidberg Speaking of knowing what they have...
30-mile Honda S2000 going up for auction.

@just-jeepin Doomed to be stored and resold indefinitely. Who is going to pay that cheese for a car whose inflated value is dependent on its low miles and shininess and actually drive it? Nnnnnnobody.
-
@dr-zoidberg Yeah, I've only ever seen one and it was in the $20k range. It was crazy low miles, but I wasn't going to spend that kind of money it.
-
@dr-zoidberg and all 2wd??? That must make my 2 door z71 4x4 5.3 worth at least 30k. (Now I know what I got)
-
I didn't even know they made a V8 Colorado/Canyon. What a travesty that GM didn't bother to tell anyone they made one.

Well if you actually drive it you quickly realize you have a Colorado. To avoid this, people make them garage queens and simply refer to them as "the V8 unicorn" or "V8 unicorn 5, red" depending on how many they have.
-
@whoistheleader GM gonna GM. People probably would have gotten the V8 sport package models if they had actually been advertised
-
@carbon-fiber-sasquatch Imagine if they sold them with 4x4 and a slight factory lift. People would have been all over that. I love lowered pickups but people just don't buy them.
-
I really need to get mine on the road. It is worth nothing with a v8 swap and it is 4x4 with a two inch lift. Once it's on the road I intend to drive the shit out of it even though it's only at 55k miles. Personally I liked driving it more stock than any of the full size stuff from the same era. Probably because it's just me/the wife and the dog. If you try to put a third person in that thing it is tight.
-
@whoistheleader They should have done both. An SS sport truck that actually gets new badging and a ZR2 off roader. V8 only, would have made tons of money.
GM has a long history of actually good sport models that were not advertised and/or you had to know the special code to ask. L88 Corvettes for example.
I'm still salty that the Cheyenne Concept never got made.
I'd be looking for one of these instead lol -
@just-jeepin Feels like a waste of a car, as all of these do. One of my closest friends (actually 2 of them) dailies an S2k, he put more miles on it this weekend just going to work on our race van than this guy has ever driven one. For one of the best driver's cars ever made this definitely live up to being a car, I guess.

@carbon-fiber-sasquatch @WhoIsTheLeader
The ZQ8 suspension on the V8 was about as close as they got. I believe that is the same code they used on the S-10 SS, which was the sport suspension version. There was just no official SS Colorado.A ZR2 with the 5.3 would have been smart, not sure why they skipped the first gen Colorado as it seemed to be popular on the outgoing S-10/Blazer. Well, actually probably the financial crisis, but still a missed opportunity for sure.
-
@looseonexit It's funny because the first F150 Raptor came out in 2010 when the Colorado was still being produced. You'd think that GM would have some sort of ZR2 at least on paper somewhere as a potential future model. It's not like the Raptor didn't sell well when it debuted.

Yes. Yes you do.
-
@looseonexit I drove a '99 ZQ8 Sonoma for 5+ years, to date it is the hardest suspension I've ever had in a vehicle even with belltech shocks. The rear felt solid. The 4.3 was a fairly fun engine but would step the rear out too easily to make it drivable on anything other than dry pavement.

There was just no official SS Colorado.Don't think there was an S10 SS. That would be the XTreme which I thought wasn't really much more than an appearance package.
If they DID make an SS, please don't tell me because I'll start looking for one.

Did you swap that? I didn't think they stuck the V8 in anything shorter than an ext cab.
-
@smallbear I don't recall you ever posting about it though. Didn't know anyone here actually had one. Is it the LQ1 package or is it just the rare optioned V8?
-
I did have a review and a bunch of old stuff up on old Oppo, but admittedly I haven't done much for a while.
It's a standard Z85 4x4, but it is the 3LT and as loaded as you could get these things (minus sunroof which seems like an odd omission), which admittedly isn't saying a heck of a lot. But the important piece is under the hood, present and accounted for, so... I'm happy
-
@smallbear did I swap it implies I finished and it runs and drives so no. Is there in incomplete ls swap Colorado in my shop? Very much yes.
-
@whoistheleader They did and they are a riot to drive. The one we drove was a crew cab 4x4, to launch you pretty much needed to lock 4wd.
We almost bought one when we had our 04 Colorado, then I decided I didn't want to pay to keep tires on it....It was almost as much fun as the special ordered 1500 reg cab, short bed, 2wd, 6.0L/stick combo we almost bought.....
