How Bad Are Your Roads?
-
I finally feel justified in all my complaining about New England's roads, especially my state RI.
But also, now I'm even more pissed that the stats are there and we're not fixing it enough in the SMALLEST STATE
-
Sweet, I've lived in/commuted through two of the top three places...
-
You say bad roads, I say adventure!
-
@just-jeepin would that we all had Jeeps to commute!
-
@just-jeepin that's not a road though. We don't even have good offroading.
-
@sovande top worst right?
-
@poor_sh Michigan is only ninth?
What the hell are the other 8 driving on? Cobblestones?
I'd like to know what the weight limits for trucks are in the top ten. I've seen some trucks come into my work severely overloaded. -

Hey, it’s a public road. That report says Indiana has some of the best roads, but apparently they’re leaning heavily on my idea of a good road.
-
@vondon302 well maybe you're looking at cities? Rhode Island and DC are small and compact so the average is much different than the average of larger states

I agree!
I’ve been wanting to design a custom bumper sticker: Stop government waste. Stop paving roads.
-
@poor_sh Do you know why so many politicians graduate from New England colleges? Because they have the best internship programs for corruption! People from NY and NJ go to school in New England to learn how to be corrupt. Seriously, Providence voted for Cianci ( a convicted felon) twice!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddy_Cianci
Don't get me started on Massachusetts politics. We finally have a speaker of the house that hasn't gone to jail, yet.
Between political and union corruption and government pension plans that are unsustainable, what else would you expect?!

Yeah I could see that. The upper peninsula actually has some good roads. -
@krustywantout oh I'm fully versed in RI political corruption lol we've been number 1 since the 1600s!
-
@poor_sh Since we don't get too many freezes, roads here in Greenville SC aren't all that terrible.
-
There are a few bad streets, but overall road quality in Washington State is great compared to everywhere else I've been
-
@just-jeepin this would also make commuting on a dual sport more appropriate.
-
@poor_sh Yep. I live 5 miles from DC and work downtown. I lived in Rhode Island for about 4 years about 10-12 years ago. It was the best.

You and I say adventure, my wife says motion-sickness! (Dang it.)
-
I don't have pictures of our road as I'm too busy
fightingdriving my Taft make it drive straight, but I took screenshots from Google Maps which I feel is good enough.
The government just keep patching the road every time a new crater appears
The road is as smooth as teenager's face during puberty. I mean look at those lumpy thingies!
The road is narrow and you have to drive stradling the white line to avoid the manholes destroying your suspensions
Our state-owned water supply company did a construction on those two manholes a few years ago and decided that this is smooth enough after the project was concluded -
Georgia: 78.9, or fourth in the nation
Too bad all of the roads are clogged with other people who don't appreciate them and drive incredibly slowly. Or incredibly fast. The traffic doesn't let me enjoy our good roads.
-
@just-jeepin lol would be interesting for sure...
-
Pennsylvania is not listed in the top 10, so this list is invalid. Even when PennDOT fixes a pothole they screw it up by either overfilling or underfilling it.
How do you know that you've left Pennsylvania? The ride feels smoother.
-
@annoying_salman That's even more confusing as a large percentage of the population drive motorcycles. Those potholes and lumpy patches have got to be even less pleasant on two wheels.

Eh, they either suddenly slowing down and caught other drivers behind them by surprise, or just swerve to avoid the potholes knowing that the cars will brake to avoid hitting motorcyclists and received ticket.

@poor_sh I'm in WI, can confirm our roads are shit.
