'Famous' Jet Beetle comes up for sale

This car I remember seeing on its own dedicated page, circulated by internet car guys on forums before social media was a thing--a good 18 years ago or so.
Seeing it come up for sale was definitely a "Oh! Holy shit!" moment.
The price is total crack pipe to most of us plebs, though. But man, it's still cool. And the stories the guy told about the experience of firing the jet engine in the early days are awesome.
So, regardless of CP price, it's still a fun trip down memory lane for me.

Guy has a pretty good sense of humor on it... an update I dont remember reading back in the day:

If I had 550,000 bucks lying around I'd get it, because 1.) how cool would it be to do everyday things like making a school run or getting groceries with a jet strapped behind you and 2.) if I have 550,000 bucks I likely won't fret about its excessive gas usage and high maintenance costs.
