Brown Santa
-
Perhaps you've heard of Blue Santa, where the police department collects and distributes gifts for folks at Christmastime. Today, my family took part in a similar event sponsored by the Travis County Sheriff's Office. We spent a couple of hours with other volunteers wrapping presents for kids and their families. Always a good time.

I like that hot wheels gift pack.
-
@gin-san I almost kept it for myself!

@ttyymmnn I very much like this. I wanted to start doing things like this and the food bank this season, but my girls are increasingly worried about the bug, with my wife’s health being poor and all. It’s not like I’m not busy or anything, but I really wanted the spiritual shot in the arm.
-
@chariotoflove This felt quite safe to me. But I certainly understand the health concerns. We try to get to the food bank once a month, and I think their protocols make it about as safe it can be.
-
@ttyymmnn That’s encouraging. I’d go, but my girls are a little more careful. Maybe this will help convince them.

Good on ya...
The men's group at my church is getting together this evening to assemble "care baskets" with hearty, fancy-ish food & snacks for families in need (or in need of some love) this holiday season. We try to do some kind of community outreach/service project once a month. This particular one is a small gesture that will only help a few dozen, but like in the starfish parable - “It made a difference to that one.”

Brown Santa - I thought that was the UPS delivery guy?
