Daily Dose of Camaro Bullshittery

First, per my post yesterday, I ordered a new bolt from GM to replace the one that broke (I broke?) on the cowl brace. Now I need to work the existing one out. I have a screw out kit, as well as access behind it and some vise grips, so I think I can work something out.
With that out of the way, I want to first solicit suggestions for vanity plates. I live in VA and it's stupidly cheap and easy to get vanity tags here, so if I can get something I like, I might go with it. You can find the VA Vanity Plate checker right here.
If you want a laugh, you can see all the plates VA rejected in 2018 right here. I swear I am not the person who applied for "FCKBOI".
Next, wheels and tires. This car is absurdly powerful for normal conditions, but "Summer only" tires on 35-40 degree asphalt be like traction, who dis? Seriously, I went through a roundabout early this morning and accelerated slightly coming out of it, and TC went bonkers up through 4th gear.
I think I need some dedicated winter tires for this thing. I've been looking on FB marketplace and I can pick up a set of take-off OEM wheels for around $400-500. They would be narrower than my current wheels/tires - the 1LE cars get 20x10/20x11 wheels with 285/30R20 and 305/30R20 tires, while regular SS cars make due with 20x8.5/20x9.5 wheel and 245/40R20 and 275/35R20 tires. But the advantage is I'd be using stock wheels that I know will fit the car. So, any recommendations for winter tires?

The biggest bullshittery is the lack of T-tops on the new cars
I went on DIscount Tire Direct/DTD and configured a tire/wheel package for your car
The Vision Cross wheels and Nokian R3 tires in size 255/40-19 (square setup)
Tire Rack has 18" wheels that fit your Camaro, but no winter tires in the sizes they recommend in 18", just a summer tire, and no tires at all in their 19" combination
In the stock size, they only have expensive Michelin snow tires.
It's probably worth running a square setup if you can so that you don't have to worry about a winter tire being available in 2 different sizes!
You have a decent amount of options going square 255/40-19. The Nokian R3 is the best in snow and shit

@snuze I run Vikingcontacts, which are some of the best winter tires according to a few reviews. I know a few here are happy with their Blizzaks, and of course, Hakkas would be overkill.

I know how much the state of Virginia loves radar detectors, so I'd go with this...
Or...if you wanted to be matchy-matchy with a fellow Chevy-driving Oppo out in California...

@snuze
If you don't get this plate I have no faith in the internet. -

@dogisbadob thanks for the advice, I'll check out your suggestions. Also, I got a Saw-z-all and an angle grinder... I could make some T-tops!!!
@CB Thanks for the recommendations!

@Exage03040 Sadly it's taken. There's a guy on the Camaro6 forum who runs "M1SS1LE" in another state but it's also taken in VA.
@SmugAardvark Who runs Oh Good?
@Italia Dammit, it really is available. I wonder if they would reject it?
@MybirdIStheword But what if I don't have anything to compensate for?
-
@snuze you are obligated to try. It would be legendary and bring smiles to so many people at red lights.
-
You know what plate you need to get. Weβve talked about this.
Anyway, I choose to believe you got a defective bolt that broke under way too little torque, and your guardian angel was looking out for you.
βWinter tires? What are those?β says the MI transplant that moved to Texas 20years ago. Just leave the summers on and go do some donuts.*
*donβt do this, you idiot. Get decent winters.
-
@chariotoflove Tbh I don't remember. Something mullet related?
And I agree on the bolt, either defective or someone put it on with an impact or something and already damaged it. I did not put 110+lbs of force on it, which is what I'd need on my 6" ratchet to get to the 55 ft-lbs yield strength of the bolt.
-
@snuze I do. I've got OH GOOD on the Corvette.
-
@smugaardvark Sorry, I mis-read/mis-understood your comment. I finished my final exam for my masters class tonight, so I think my brain is done. But that's cool. What's the story behind "OH GOOD"?
-
@snuze I see VA still has "EAT THE" banned, due to its use on a "children first" plate.
-
@cash-rewards Yes, sadly. Maybe I need to get the furryy plate banned? hahahah
-
Yeah, a couple of those license plates are bad, but I don't see anything wrong with OhFudge. What if they really like fudge? I like fudge.
Also, Gashole is what I'm going to nickname any gas guzzler I own. One that springs leaks and burns fuel... likely a classic American car.

Haha, no worries. There isn't a deep meaning behind the plate. I just happen to say "Oh good" a lot. Probably too much. But it's a perfect phrase. It can be a statement of tacit agreement, an exclamation of joy, or a comment of deep sarcasm. It all depends on how you say it. People tend to assume that it's me just being a sarcastic asshole. Ultimately, I'm okay with that.
The other phrase I use quite a bit is "Well, good." Thankfully, WELGOOD was still available in CA. I thought about applying for it for the Jaguar, but state has temporarily suspended all applications for custom tags. Plus, I'm hoping I can snag some variation of "JAAAAAG"
-
@smugaardvark That would be great. I assume the VA DMV is still processing custom plates. Just don't try to call them - I'm having an issue with the title for my Cruze and when I called I just got a recording saying they aren't taking calls, instead schedule an appointment at a branch. The earliest appointment is in February.
-
One of the few things I miss about living in Florida was that there was never a line at my local DMV, there were no vehicle inspections, and registration was always dirt cheap.

Its just a joke, to get out ahead of people that are jealous. Honestly that one always bothers me about sports cars. At least giant lifted trucks make sense.
I feel like vanity plates are much easier for kore niche cars than something mainstream like a camaro. Its a rather sensible choice so its difficult to make fun of.
