It wasn't a Vauxhall Grandad X, but a Kia Sportage.
It's actually quite nippy, or was, while getting used to the pedals in a different car.
Though your quite high up in it, I find myself climbing in, only to thud down in the seat as the seat is lower than I was expecting.
Using the wipers was as usual except it comes up on the dash what speed it's doing and what other speeds it does. I've never wanted or needed to know this as I've always been of the opinion, if the wipers aren't cleaning the screen as I'd like, move to a faster position. Wipers going too fast for the amount of rain, use a slower setting or rather as on the Skoda, I have it in auto and the car decides.
On a better tasting note. Mr Kipling, Apple, Pear and Custard Crumble Tarts. Om nom nom.

is the Kia petrol or diesel? manual? and most importantly is it any good?
-
Does its rear turning signal mounted down low? I forgot which generation has that design.
-
@annoying_salman
Yes, they still do that as do quite a few other cars of this kind of shape. -
@pip-bip
It's a manual petrol.
It's okay. Couldn't see the end of the bonnet but raised the seat which helps a bit but not used to being so high up, it's not something I ever needed.
The rear parking camera is sort of a distraction, because if your looking at it, your not using your mirrors to see if anything is coming from the sides and that rectangle that shows were your manoeuvring, it's hard to judge as sometimes it puts you near the kerb, sometimes, your about two inches out.
I like the idea of the Skoda Superb Scout in that's it's a couple of inches higher up than the regular Superb, but only comes in automatic and while Australia is getting it, the U.K. isn't. Doh. -
@annoying_salman lol. Just got out the car and I can't remember. It's just natural to stick a finger out to tab the stalk and turn.

No problem, @Cé-hé-sin mentioned that it indeed has its indicator mounted down low.
-
@annoying_salman
The Audi Q5 and I think Q3 come to mind. I'm sure there are more.
It's to do with regulations requiring that some lights are not mounted on moveable surfaces. -

-
@annoying_salman On that generation, yes
A lot of other Kias have that design with the indicator low at the moment. The Forte and Forte5 hatch, for one.
There were some older GM cars that had the brake/indicators down low on the bumper. The Pontiac Grand LeMans from the '80s comes to mind...my family had two of them before I was born:

Thanks for the information! We never had those cars here. For me it was strange seeing big station wagon called "Grand LeMans", as I was picturing something small and nimble instead
I had to search for how the rear of Kia Forte looks like, as I don't think they sell them here. The only "modern" Kia I usually see on the roads are the Rio, Picanto, and Sportage.
-
@annoying_salman No problem! some of their other cars I think follow the same pattern with the turn signals at the bottom in their current models, but I can't remember which ones off the top of my head
-
@annoying_salman The Hyundai Kona follows the indicator on the bottom trend as well.

It was weird to me that the car has wide rear lamp (heckblende?) yet the indicator was positioned down below.

Oh yeah the Kona too!
-
@annoying_salman @WhoIsTheLeader Yes, the Kona does, as does the Santa Fe, I believe, as does the upcoming Hyundai Tucson. All part of Hyundai/Kia sharing platforms, I'd imagine
I really like the styling on the rear of the current Kia Forte5!
-
I really don't like how Hyundai and Kia have the indicators mounted low like that on mamy of their models. I don't know about you guys, but I find them almost impossible to see if they're more than one car ahead of you in traffic, which makes it harder to read what's happening up ahead. I'm actually surprised that Torch hasn't written about them on Jalopnik, given his obsession with tail lights.

What's the difference between Kia Forte and Kia Cee'd? I just noticed that they were two different vehicles
I really like the design of new Cee'd wagon.
Speaking of Cee'd, what's the meaning of its name? Cee-would? Cee-ed? Being cee?

Oh yeah I'm also not a big fan of its location. I thought they mounted it down below because the traffic in western/developed countries isn't as bad as in here, where we have to drive extremely close to the car in the front so that no motorcycles (or even jerks in cars!) can cut you off.
I still can tolerate low mounted rear indicator. What I hate is low mounted front indicator, like the one in the latest generation Kijang Innova which is an extremely popular car here.
I can't count the number of times I waited for those cars from opposite direction at U-turn, only to realize that their indicator are blinking, obstructed by the median. If I can see it sooner, I can proceed with the turning and avoid having cars queuing up behind me.
I already emailed Torch about this, but never got any response.

They had a model called the Pro C'eed once! -

-
@annoying_salman Not sure, we don't get the Cee'd here in Canada!
-
@rallydarkstrike Aw man, I wish we got that here. At least we got the Elantra GT.
-
@annoying_salman
The Vauxhall/Opel Adam was a curious one to me.Guess where the front indicators are!
Did you guess where the front fogs usually go? Then you'd be right.
Then you'd be right.
Saying that, they made changing the bulb incredibly easy.
