Do you elf? (maybe don't let your small kid read this)
-
My kid is in high school now. So, Julie, the Elf on the Shelf, has been pressed into all kinds of compromising positions. These days, the game is to see what outrageous things my daughter can surprise us with. She has her father's creativity and then some.
Any of you with small kids and an Elf? Any of you using your Elf for alternate activities now?

@chariotoflove We have an elf, but he's sitting on the shelf where we hid him after Christmas. He hasn't seen the rest of the house in many years.

Not me, but there's a whole meme thing of doing horrible things with them. You aren't alone.

Oh for sure, it's a cult almost. My daughter's idea was to take the baby from the nativity, put it on the glowing fake log in the fireplace, and surround it with several elves in a pentagram pattern. Nibby would be proud.
The wife vetoed even talking about that.

@Chariotoflove We have elfed for the past decade since my mother bought the meme home from the US where my sister in law was doing it to my niece and nephew. They still play abuse the elf as teenagers in Switzerland...my brother managed to set one of the elves on fire one year.

Fitting since the little things look like demons.

@chariotoflove The whole elf on the shelf thing always seemed a bit sadistic to me.

It was a cute idea at first, spawned by a mom. But, like pet rocks and BeeGees albums, they quickly lent themselves to perverse abuses.

Now I need to know what a pet rock did to you...

They attack in pairs. So from an early age, I had to learn how to get my rocks off.

@chariotoflove that’s terrible.
But I laughed. -
