Each year, Spotify does a ”wrapped” thing for each user and gives you a data snapshot of your listening habits. I’m not sure if I should be proud or embarrassed with regard to my 99.99th percentile score for AC
️DC:
If you’ve got your spotify analytics handy, post ’em up in the comments for us all to share. If you don’t have spotify, recommend some good driving songs anyway
I clearly need to update my playlists with some new material.

Proud. Definitely proud.
-
Of all the rock music to listen to...
-
@mm54 hahaha, I vibe with their very “minimalist” sound but it’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea.
If the new Blue Öyster Cult album had come out earlier this year than it did, they might be up there too for me. Super good album.
-
@way2blu same! The Symbol Remains is incredible.
-
@way2blu these guys are good for driving stuff
See also, Kavinsky and Carpenter Brut. Its not rock, but I like it nonetheless! -
@way2blu Brian Johnson was good but Bon Scott AC DC is the best.

Here's my strange mix of music. My minutes listened is actually higher, but YouTube and Records aren't SpotifyI got top 1% of Grateful Dead listeners.
-
I don’t Spotify. I buy tons of music and then serve it both locally and online.
Also, my tracked listening is WAY down this year thanks to both vinyl and twitch DJs. But according to LastFM my top artists this year were:
- Chvrches
- SPC ECO
- The KVB
- Go Fight
- Placebo
(For those wondering Nine Inch Nails were 6th and Curve was 7th, so I’m not falling off my game).
-
@way2blu My top song got artificially blown to the top due to the fact that I picked up Bass Guitar again at the beginning of the year and was determined to master Want You Back. Same for "Enough" at #3 and "Blue Dream" at #5.
-
I drive a ton for work and live in a shitty noisy apartment so I pretty much always have music podcasts or tv going. But I got top .5% of TeZATalks listeners. -
Mine isn't working, so I just went to
Top Bands:
Kaleo - All
Sturgill Simpson
Tron Legacy Soundtrack - Daft Punk
Last of the Mohicans Soundtrack
Silversun Pickups
The Killers
Jars of ClaySongs:
Colter Wall - Thirteen Silver Dollars
Powfu, beadadoobee - Death bed(coffee for your head)
Marc Cohn - Strangers in a car -

AC/DC isn't bad but, in my opinion, MAN are they overrated (and almost all of their songs are the same thing). If you like that style of music, do you want some recommendations of other albums you might like? There's a lot of good rock 'n roll out there.

@mm54 I remember maybe 15 years ago, I was in the car with some people from work, and Who Made Who came up in the shuffle on my iPod. A coworker in the back seat exclaimed that he loved Highway to Hell, and the one sitting next to me corrected him, and thanked him for pointing out that all Acca Dacca sounds the same

And Who Made Who is one of the ones that sounds less like everything else!

I don't Spotify, but I've been listening to tons of Spiritbox this year, and also been into Graveyard. My weird outlier has been the DOOM Eternal soundtrack.
-
@snuze video game soundtracks are getting a lot better! Full orchestrations and everything. Dragon Age Inquisition is really good, so is Sword and Sorcery by Jim Guthrie
-
@misterbuttercup I'll have to check those out.
-
I only started using Spotify a couple months ago (Google music - you will be missed!)
I listened to a lot of 90s and 00s pop punk and Ska, in particular NoFX. I had their Wolves in Wolves clothing on repeat. Spotify says I'm in their top 2% of listeners.
-
@mm54 @Vondon302 I think there was a lot more variety & innovation in the 4 years of Bon Scott than the 40 years so far with Brian Johnson. Back in Black was such a successful album that they’ve been able to make songs to that formula for decades and see tons of commercial success. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, in my opinion. If they didn’t need to innovate further I don’t blame ‘em.
For the record, I listen to a lot more Bon Scott AC/DC. The “Bonfire” album with lots of their live ‘70s concert recordings is my absolute favorite.
-
Like a few others, I don’t Spotify, but the bands I listened to the most this year were the Smashing Pumpkins and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, along with a whole bunch of electronic artists that few if any of you would care about. Also finally sloooooowly starting to get back into Beach House, one of a few groups that remind me of my ex too much (still won’t be listening to Arctic Monkeys, Chvrches, or Nothing But Thieves anytime soon...)
-
Man...I use Spotify like crazy but I’m not posting my wrapped because y’all will definitely judge me. Lol

Blue dream as in Dance Gavin Dance's Blue Dream?
-
@g_body_man that’s the one.
-
@dawrx Oh hell yeah
