Today I Learned

The (absolutely horrendous looking) second generation Ford Scorpio, despite it's rather large size, only has four lug wheels. I know. Fascinating.
Even more interestingly, the previous generation had a standard five lug setup. And I'm pretty sure the second generation was bigger. I guess five lugs was too much to ask the next time around when they already spent all their money on drugs coming up with the styling.
-
The second was a heavy facelift of the first so I'm guessing they were the same-ish size.
-
So Ford cheapened shit in Europe, too, not just the US
-
I was curious, so I looked around. I'm surprised at how many 4 lug setups are out there.
-
@for-canada I thought that was a Daewoo
-
FOUR lugs? Wasteful extravagance! Many French cars only needed three!
Come to think of it, if you have knock-off wire wheels you've kind of got just one lug per wheel...
-
-
One of the most endearing classics of all time had 4 lugs:
-
@for-canada I bet they are 4x108 too

-
@manwich and the Fox Bodies
-
@for-canada Its astounding how many different levels of management that design had to go through for approval
-
@just-jeepin It sure makes changing the tire a lot quicker. Now that I think about, I've only owned one car with knock-off wires... and I never had to change a tire on it once!
