Who Here Voted for Literally Hitler?
-
Show and explain yourselves
-
I'm just glad to see that the word 'literally' has been used correctly.
-
Well I liked the idea of Lebensraum
-
I don't like the sound of these 'ere boncentration bamps.

@forsweden Imagine being black and naming your kid after Adolf Hitler...WTF?!?
Found an article where he explains, his father probably "didn’t understand what Adolf Hitler stood for".
-
Namibia also used to be a German Colony.
Besides, why should he change his name? It's the other guy that sucks. -
@forsweden A colony where ze Germans first got a taste for genocide
-
Probably not all that odd for the Nation of Islam
-
@dipodomysdeserti Man whoever let the Proud Boys into the NAACP meeting probably never heard the end of it. I get it that they shaved and aren't putting on the rugged real man cosplay, but their ID is right on their sleeves.
-
@fintail I'm pretty sure the NoI invited them and knew who they were.
-
@forsweden It was a joke.
And it's not like NOI was selling iron ore to them or something.
-
@forsweden Hitler was a bit of a no talent ass clown. I mean, did you see his painting? Amateur hour.
-
Say what you will about Hitler, but at least he killed Hitler...
-
@dipodomysdeserti Is it that surprising that extremists will overlook fundamental differences to find common ground on hating someone else?
-
@krustywantout Nope. See the Spanish Civil War for some really fucked up alliances.
-
@forsweden Trevor Noah actually had a good story about situations like these. For a lot of people in Africa, WWII and Hitler were just something white people go on about and to them naming someone after Hitler wasn't a big deal.
-
@bloody-the-resident-shitposting-saffer German influence in Namibia?
It's more common than you think.
-
Oh, I'm well aware of Namibia's history (also I know quite a few people who were stationed in Namibia during the Angola War).

If you haven't read Trevor Noah's book I highly recommend it. We grew up in South Africa at the same time so it was very illuminating for me to see what I experienced from a different perspective.

Specifically:
Most black people had a traditional name from their tribe, one that is meaningful and hopefully prophetic. But blacks were also required by law to have an English or European name. These names were usually random selections from popular names heard in the news or from the Bible or the name of a celebrity.
