A new king of “blank switches”
-
We all heard automotive journalists and Doug, complaint about blank switchs, or plates in automobile interiors, but now you can’t also get them on the outside of your car. I present for your consideration the current CRV with a big awkward blank plate in the grill where the auto cruise control sensor goes. Ever single CRV at my local dealer shop has this.
Although the models with the sensor equipped aren’t much better. You either get a blank plate, it a blank bump.
As I was leaving the dealership, which also sells Toyotas I noticed the current 4Runner also has one now. I didn’t get a picture of that one but I found d one that shows it.

Isn't auto cruise standard on Toyotas now?
-
@hfv look at the back of any recent Hyundai or Kia crossover that has an optional V6. There’s a blank cutout for the second (probably fake anyway) exhaust on the 4 cylinder models. I think some Yotas have this too (Camry?)
-
@williamssw I’ve seen that before. So lazy
-
@hfv to me it’s the ultimate blank switch, because it’s obvious to the entire world that you went cheap on the motor.
Those sensors you refer to are brutal too.
-
Both of those have the bland switch turned on for sure.
They are the same as the new Niva, are there other clones?
-
@hfv
There is actually a sensor there though... The radar is behind that cover. Honda Sensing is standard on all models now. I don't disagree that it looks bad though. At least on some other models they hide it behind the Honda badge. -
This bugs me so much. Especially since other toyotas (camry/corolla), other hondas, and like tons of other cars (all VWs with safety tech, for one) have it done right. Subaru too with the windshield mounted camera based systems, although they don't work as well...
