        My neighbor finally got his 2CV running again. I honestly can't even think of the last time I saw one in driving condition. It was so awesome!

              @pip-bip I guess not many of them went on to survive in the US. Best estimates are that only a few hundred 2CV and Ami models were sold new here by Citroen, and another hundred or so by other importers while they were still new. Most others were imported at a later date.

              They've long fascinated me, possibly in part because they are such a rarity here.

                @smugaardvark they are rare all around the world now but fortunately they are simple and built to last.

                What is the most fascinating about those is how different they were made to anything else and how clever it was engineered.

                      @pip-bip

                      I saw a little convoy of 2CVs running on a four wheel drive only road in Iceland when I was there. No, I doubt if they were actually 4wd.

                        @jb-boin I was in Normandy and Brittany in 2017 and saw several in what seemed to be daily use. I was there again in 2019 and none to be seen!

                          DSC_0278.JPG DSC_0279.JPG DSC_0280.JPG I met the previous owner ? in 2018. wacky guy, but you'd have to be a bit to take on that restoration. The car was so beat up from so many years, and so many parts customized, It was practically restored twice as every part was "is this broken or meant to be this shape?"
